This film starts off with the execution of a witch, & then picks up a couple centuries later focusing on the descendant of said witch. The black & white picture allows the truly sadistic scenes to creep under our skin, rather than give us the all too common shock value we are so used to in this day & age. The lead actress, Barbara Steele, plays both the witch & descendant in the film. She easily conveys the evil & the good needed for the separate roles, & makes it easy to see both characters separately. Not something I've seen often in horror, especially in regards to women characters. Not that it can be helped, as usually horror movie characters (in particular female parts) are never given much development. The villainous witch, Princess Asa Vadja, is a wonderful character, evil & all. . . . . . #mariobrava #barbarasteele #maskofsatan #blacksunday https://www.instagram.com/p/B2sX2GTF22e/?igshid=esq7qhsqcnq2
