So, uh...
@snow-covered-moon has poisoned my muses.
Because now we've had four characters meet the red mage spriggans (Shuri, Bunmeeps, Gologa, Marisol).
And I'm desperately trying to work out the timeline involved here.
Frowning, I stand on the cliff beside Bajsaljen, and survey the war-torn plateau below.
“I’m not the soldier you need for this, Bajsaljen. I’m a sledgehammer. I can take back Eagle’s Nest for you. But I can’t take and hold an entire plateau like this on my own. I can only be in one place at once. And I can’t - and shouldn’t - be the rallying point to be the tip of the spear to lead your forces into battle.”
Seeing the Hrothgar’s face fall, I continue quickly.
“But I do know who should be. I can call them in, if you like.”
“A soldier that is recommended by the Saviour of Doma? Now this person, I have to meet. Call them in.”
Nodding with a wry smile, I step aside slightly, clipping a linkpearl to my horn, and contacting Gologa.
“Big man. I need you to come to the Doman Enclave for me. I’ll have a Viera named Lilja meet you there.”
Hearing his grunt of assent, I disconnect the pearl, and return to surveying the battlefield with Bajsaljen.
Some time later, I hear a commotion in the camp below and see Lilja wave at me as she returns to work.
“Alright, Bajsaljen. My recommendation for who should lead the charge for you, rather than a Doman Au Ra, is a Bozjan Hrothgar. In fact, I believe you’re familiar with him.”
Stepping aside, I let Gologa pass me, gunblade in hand, and he plants it in the ground for an elaborate bow before speaking, voice rough and gravelly, Marisol barely visible behind his bowing form.
“Gologa Afaria, once Blade Ristan Liteosch, applying to rejoin the Blades once more, sir.”
Grinning, I turn back to Bajsaljen, catching him staring at the bowing leonine form in shock, and I shoulder my blade and slip away, heading to the battlefield to fight anonymously, just another outsider ready to help the Bozjans take their land back.
I refuse to be an outsider enacting my will on them, even by request. I will not lead, but I will follow, and witness.
Gologa will take Bozja back.
The crypts are silent as I follow Gologa through the stony halls, Marisol at my side, the bag of stoneworking tools clanking quietly with each step as it hangs off of his shoulder.
Suddenly, breaking the quiet, he rumbles as we enter a room with several biers in rows, a blank stone tablet at the end.
"Danislav gets the third from the end."
Nodding quietly, I lay the shrouded body down, watching as Gologa walks by each plinth, reciting a name by each in a deep voice, carefully held level.
As he reaches the tablet, I watch him reach into the bag at his side for hammer and chisel, and begin carving names, starting with Liteo, then a gap, then Danislav.
Silent, Marisol at my side, we watch as the chisel slowly adds names, one at a time, the loud sounds of stone giving way the only thing breaking the somber silence.
Long minutes pass, and Gologa stands, dropping the tools, staring at the tablet, stony-faced.
Recognising this part of the ritual, I gently take Marisol by the hand and lead her outside the entrance to the chamber, pulling the heavy stone door into place.
Ignoring her look of confusion, I quietly count down from five, before-
A wail of anguish and sorrow echoes through the crypt. I hold out an arm and catch Marisol as she immediately tries to rush back into the chamber.
"No. Give him time. He needs this, and you know it."
Slowly, listening to her husband's agony, Marisol's angry struggling slowly turns to tears, and before long, my arms holding her back are instead holding her up.
Eventually, silence falls, and the door slowly grinds open.
"I couldn't protect them. I couldn't protect her. I couldn't save my brothers. But I survived. I will move forward. And I will protect you, my Queen."
Glancing up at him, Marisol starts in shock to see his gunblade lying on the second plinth in the room, between Danislav's corpse and where Liteo's would have been, and a heavy, wicked-looking scythe in his hand.
Releasing her to worry over her husband and hellion, I move into the room to pick up the stoneworking tools, to see that the gap on the tablet has been filled.
Ristan.
Staring at it for a moment, I leave the room again, nodding to Gologa to seal the tomb, his old clan dead and buried for good, before we start back to the surface, Marisol walking hand-in-hand with Gologa Afaria.
FFXIV Write 2023 - #4 - Off the Hook
Hands on her hips, Marisol tries to keep her lips from quirking as she looks down at her daughter. Alba's eyes are large and pleading, completely at odds with the flour coating her small body.
"If you wanted to make something for Papa, you should have asked, me, love. Now you're going to get a bath and then sit in your room until he gets home."
The little face pouts, the skin around her third eye puckering as her eyebrows draw together. "But Mama! Papa has been gone for days. We always have something ready for him when he gets home!"
Biting harder on the inside of her cheeks, the small miqo'te studies the determined look on Alba's face. "Fine. But that doesn't mean you're off the hook for later. For now, go hop in the tub and get clean and we'll make his favourites when you're done."
Watching their daughter run down the hall, Marisol lets herself laugh once the door to the bathroom closes. She couldn't wait to tell her Lion about this.
Miqo March Day 3 - Family
Marisol Faria, not so long ago, was an outcast Keeper from the Shroud, wanted not even by her own tribe.
Now she is Queen to a Hrothgar, wife to her Gologa, and unexpectedly a mother to an orphaned Garlean girl named Alba. It won't be long until Mari is once again the smallest in their little family.
Describe a typical day for Marisol?
Apologies for the wait on this one!
Marisol's days are pretty boring for the most part unless there's a mission or something that specifically needs doing.
She spends a bunch of time cuddling with Lion after waking, then before breakfast, they spend some time exercising and sparring. From there, it's breakfast, finding something to do until lunch, then I really don't know what else they do from there. I don't think they have a set schedule most days.
Hope this is good ^^
👎 to see them in something they’d never wear
This one was pretty difficult, but I finally narrowed it down. Marisol would never wear Garlean stuff.
