Montemurro on defeat, mistakes, Maritz
Head coach discusses the key talking points from our 2-1 defeat to PSG
Nobody wants to be lead by a pessimist. - Bob Iger . . . This is a picture of me at a sock hop. It was part of a weeklong vacation and business trip my father won at work, organized by #Maritz, the company where I now lead a team of brilliant, hard-working, optimistic creatives to help in the fashioning of the company’s many fascinating stories. If you would have told that six-year-old boy that the people who planned that party were laying the foundation for his future, he would have asked, “what does ‘foundation’ mean?” And then, I think he would have puffed up a little bit with pride at the notion that he would somehow, one day, be partly responsible for the #fun he had on that trip to Michigan. There is a saying at Maritz that at one point, we employed more artists than #Disney. As I am digesting their leader’s new autobiography, I’m taken with how the same things that drew him into his career have drawn me into mine. Were I to have anywhere near the level of experiences and enjoy half the successes he has in his tenured career, I will have done very, very well by that wide-eyed kid you see in the picture. I am grateful to have this opportunity. Thank you, Bob Iger, for the inspiration. (at Traverse City, Michigan) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7W6QcOB8OM/?igshid=1h2943jqzzdym
Thinking politically: Might it be beneficial for the font shift to come from B+R in order to receive acceptance cross-BU and within the corporate groups? We’ve come a long way in the time since @stltoday published this March, 2001 cover story on the transformation #Maritz would take in the digital age. My team is hoping to add a dynamic #socialmediastrategist, to further transform this 125yo company as we undertake a transformational, cultural, mind-set shift. For more, please visit the link in my bio & send me a DM. Tag your favorite #socialmedia mavens in the comments. Please share this post on job boards. #jobposting #STL (at Maritz) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6UB9m8l1WJ/?igshid=1o4niq9obm5lm
Quality. . . . The standard-bearer. The measure of excellence. It’s a word I hold in highest regard. These photos, one from the Louisville Stoneware Factory (2012) and the other from the break room at Oxxford Clothes (2009), live daily in my mind. Today, a conversation with my team at #Maritz lead me to realize that I have striven for #Quality my entire life. What does quality mean to you?
