#maybe the real sub was the cia analyst we met along the way #the hunt for red october #jack ryan #marko ramius #bart mancuso #this scene is so much and it's ramius continuing to be smart but he's also so funny #like. there was plenty of time!! he could have told them about the safety in the torpedo!! but he didn't 🤪#he wanted to see if the americans as a whole trusted him #and he also wanted to see if ryan as an individual trusted him #and this is AGAIN ryan going on his instinct up against mancuso's training #and trusting ramius--who he had met ONCE prior to this #and because ryan chooses to trust him (and saves everyone's lives since they wouldn't have outrun the torpedo)#ramius trusts him in return in the missile bay #AND ALSO from mancuso's pov #we get ryan making again another bonkers decision that paid off but even once the torpedo bounces off the boat #mancuso is still super cautious and doesn't fully trust ramius and his officers (“he won't change his mind huh ryan??” in the shootout)#until he sees ramius' reaction to borodin's death and it's like a flip switched so he hands ramius his gun #ray.gif
