It's literally three seconds out of their days but it annoys some of them enough that they say something.
Like these machines are designed to cater to the needs of as many customers as they can so there's naturally going to be a "do you want cash back" button and an "is this amount okay/etc" button so people can back out if they need to.

A problem with that sentence. Either it's "too many buttons" or they think it's stupid and they don't get it. More or less they want the machine to know how they want to pay without having to tell it.

yeh working in foodservice/retail gives me these weird automatic phrases that will pop out of my mouth in response to certain words before I can even think about it like whenever someone says thanks I'll be like "thank YOU, have a good day"
Yeah I've been noticing that I start to go on autopilot, even in regards to my tone. The "y'all" thing is just weird I have never used that word before.
