Carolina: "I'm reading this book in English. I prefer reading in the original language. In the first chapter, people are dying and ghosts are around. You hear people talking in local accents which reminds me of Junot Díaz. It makes you feel closer to the story. There are not a lot of books that represent non-mainstream voices. My roommate and I listen to a podcast about murders and serial killers. The girls who host the podcast analyze the killings and are actually quite funny without being disrespectful. Mexicans have an interesting perspective on death and sadly, violence is normalized in Mexico. But we also celebrate our dead loved ones.
