“I ran through three successively larger airports to try to make it back home before my dad took his last breath. His death was unexpected and quick. By the time I reached the Denver airport I was in the deep shivers of shock and very confused. I went the wrong way and by the time I realized it I had to run, hard, to reach the correct terminal. I was racing, physically and emotionally. I can't recall anything about that airport except as I ran by one woman she said, "I really like her shoes!" and somehow I had the facility to look at and thank her.”
