📸 LCB WHY DOES A TINKLE TICKLE AND A ROAR PUT THE BODY ON ALERT? WHAT DOES THE REAL BOTTOM OF THINGS SOUND LIKE? 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧 is an exhibition inspired by the eponymous short story from Ecuadorian writer Mónica Ojeda. The text was originally published in 2020 as part of 𝘓𝘢𝘴 𝘝𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘴 [The Flying Women], a compilation where she explores the ways in which horror (and all its dimensions: sensorial, political, transhistorical horror) manifests in the Andes region. Ojeda blends literary tropes with the mythologies and symbolisms from the mountains in what she calls “Andean Gothic”, a meditation on fear and desire, violence and resistance, situated in this specific geography. ‘Slasher’ first functioned as an invitation to 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚 𝐄𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞ñ𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐎𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐝 and 𝐀𝐬𝐛𝐣ø𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐨𝐮. Now, Ojeda’s text has transformed into a haunting presence in this exhibition, creating echoes and reverberations between the voices of five artists who use performance, sound, installation, film and drawing as mediums to tell their own ghost stories.
