MARTIN’S RESTAURANT AND BAR

Originally opening a half-mile down State St. in 1953, as a small breakfast and lunch grill, Martin’s has become a Jackson, Mississippi, landmark where “every hour is happy.” As part of its growth Martin’s has also become an important part of the local music scene, claiming to be “the home of Jackson’s best original live music.” To highlight its place as a showcase for Mississippi’s musical heritage Martin’s partnered with local artist Jason Jenkins in 2014 to create this 1500 sq. ft. mural (the largest in Mississippi) along the north side of the establishment. Jenkins says he believes “the arts are the key to the revitalization of our city” and is passionate about brightening up otherwise overlooked areas of the community. @jasonjenkinsart @martinsbar39201
