💫Sigyn Appreciation Week Day 6💫

Day 6: Favorite relationship, canon or fanon, romantic or platonic or even enemies.

I mean... it’s all more or less fanon, since Marvel didn’t let Sigyn do much XD

But mostly, Loki/Sigyn IN THE MYTHS (it goes without saying). There we can guess how deep their love is and how strong their bond must be.

In the myths:

Loki’s kids: They love her as well as their mum (IF SHE IS NOT ANGRBODA ;) ), and they have all a really great family unity... it’s not easy every day, but they’re there for each other, and that’s what matters....

Until, you know... Odin comes and ruins everything...

In the comics: Thor?

I mean, she is not afraid to ask for his help, and they seem to have a mutual  respect. When Loki asks Thor to save Sigyn, he does it, so... yay for a nice in-law relationship!

And in the MCU/fanon: Aww, that relationship could have been so sweet! I can imagine Thor playing matchmaker for them, Thor and Sigyn supporting each other whenever Loki “dies”, Sigyn maybe even following Thor to Misgard to do some sightseeing after Loki’s second death? Thor wishing more than anything he could be an uncle, promising Sigyn he would be the “BEST UNCLE EVER”... but then again, after Ragnarok, this would mean Sigyn probably would die too (I can see Hela killing her with the rest of the Aesir ^^’), and Thor would have another relative to mourn for... :’( 

In the comics: the Avengers? XDXD

We see them meeting Sigyn and the look on their faces when Thor tells them she’s Loki’s wife is priceless. What? That nice sweet lady is WHO’S WIFE? 

I want them to adopt her and keep her from Evil!Loki and save her from that loveless marriage and make her an Avenger too :p 

In the MCU/fanon:

Frigga/ Oh, Frigga would have loved Sigyn. She would have called her “daughter” right away and taught her magic with Loki, and totally support their relationship from the start. Co-Captain of the ship with Thor, for sure ;)

Maybe Sigyn would have saved Frigga from the Dark Elves, and that’s why she had to go... TELL ME, KANG!!! 

Sif: I think her relationship with Sif would have been complex. They would liked each other well enough, but Sif would not understand her feelings for Loki, and nothing would annoy her more than Sigyn always taking his side.

Sylvie: Well, that’s her wife, all right :) But she lost her Sigyn thousand of years ago, when they were kids, so it’s strange for her to see her all grown up... She would probably blame on Loki all the bad things that happened to her in the meantime...

Can you believe we could have had a Loki/Sigyn/Sylvie OT3 instead of THAT ^^’

A last one...

I think Hela, finding Sigyn alone in the palace would have tried to seduce her. “Renounce Loki and be my queen”... While Sigyn would have been like “Listen, honey, yes, you’re my type BUT I love your brother and I’m faithful to him, so back off. Also, I know this means I’ve just signed my death warrant, so do your worst, Odindottir” ^^’

“Fridged woman” trope

I was reading your answers to my last post, and I started to laugh when I realized something...

Marvel!Sigyn was totally fridged by Marvel. But usually, when writers do that to a female character, it’s for male!angst or to advance the story.

Here? NOT EVEN.

They realized they had screwed her character and so, instead of DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT, they threw her in the trash. 

Like, seriously, when everyone was reborn, NO ONE asked where she was? No one cared????

Several new incarnations of Loki are supposed to be good/better in the new comics... he/they never thought ONCE about his wife and felt remorseful of the way he treated her?

Had they let her live/be reborn, he could have apologized to her ... and then move on. 

Or let SIgyn go crazy and want revenge. That could have been fun. And deserved.

BUT NO.

Let’s just pretend she was never there/she died and never mattered/never existed.

Do they realize how INSULTING this is??? For Sigyn, like for the fans?

For women in general too, truly. 

Yup, ladies, you can be used and abused, and then when we don’t need you anymore, or when your presence (or rather the things we did to you make us uncomfortable), don’t except an apology or anything. Nope. We’ll just bury you in the corner of the garden and forget about you ^^’

Thor: Dad, I don’t think it’s....

Loki: Oh no! *pretends to be annoyed at this* To be chained to my wife! How terrible! What a dreadful fate! Whatever shall I do?

Thor *eyeroll*

Sigyn: I have a few ideas....

Loki*winks*: Shhhh. It’s supposed to be a punishment, remember?

Sigyn: Ah yes. So awful. And we will be confined in our rooms, I suppose?

Odin: Quite so.

Sif: Well, that’s convinient...

Thor: Well, if I get nephews or cute nieces from all of this, I’m not complaining...

The hypocrisy

Sigyn haters are the worst honestly. They keep bullying us and recalling us the way Loki treated her in the comics. But instead of being disgusted by his behaviour, they call themselves his “apologists” and keep lusting after him, and refuse Sigyn her time to shine on the MCU (to take revenge? Grow? Get an apology? the right to exist and have her own life??? IDK. ). All because as his wife she's a threat to their (self-insert) ships.

Also, the victim blaming, anyone???

Marvel writers were bad. But the fans? They’re the worst.

And you have way too much time on your hands.

Or should I say, you should take more time to look on your own ships faults (you know, selfcest, betrayal, ...) before trying to call us out on ours (if you were not this deep in denial, of course ^^’)...

Are you THIS insecure about your ship? Are we really bothering to you THAT MUCH, playing in our own little corner of the fandom that you’d take the time to bully us???

Besides, it’s not as if Sigyn would necessarily be a love interest for Loki. DC shows proved that married couples in the comics do not  always end up together (Oliver & Laurel Lance on Arrow) , or in some case are not even seen as love interests (Kara & Brainy on Supergirl).

SO WHY ARE YOU SO WORRIED???

Yes, Comics!Loki was awful to her. WE KNOW. Marvel ruined her character and their relationship in the comics. Yup. We read the same comics as you. But comics!Loki is only ONE VARIANT of the character. Do you really think ALL OF THE LOKI VARIANTS would be THAT awful to Sigyn? 

And how about a vengeful Sigyn, who would want to destroy all Lokis after what her husband has put her through? YAS QUEEN. Sounds like fun!

Or what about the variant from the Myths? Are you telling me Sigyn would have stayed with him in that cave, shielding him from that snake’s poison if he had been such a bully to her and did not deserve her love? 

Wouldn’t you want to meet that version of those characters? I WOULD.

See? So many possibilities! You guys lack imagination, that’s your problem.

What if...

Guys, we are getting TWO episodes of “What if” with Loki & Thor.

WHAT IF WE GET SIGYN IN ONE OF THEM?

Even just a cameo?

A lady in the background with her silly helmet? 

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

(It’s not as if we were asking for much XD And yet ^^’ )

(It’s not the “sacred timeline” anymore. Come on, give us at least a cameo! )

I feel like I’m repeating myself, but anyway...

So some fans find us logyn/Sigyn fans annoying.

First of all, RUDE. We’re in our little VIP sandbox, minding our own business, and here they are, insulting us.

Second, their attacks are totally illogical. 

Let’s see what they are accusing us of ...  Is it me or are we being judged in front of Judge Renslayer once again? XDXD

- “Sigyn is popular”

Is she now? Well, if she is, I had no idea, and good for her! However from what I’m seeing on this website and on twitter, and elsewhere, I’m not seeing much love or popularity for our girl. WHEN SHE SHOULD BE GIVEN ALL THE LOVE. But people don’t know about her. So how could they love her? I blame Marvel and pop media for not including her more, and in a better light.

- She’s a canon OC

HAHAHAHHA. Again. For real. And, pray tell, how is it even possible?

Ohhh, wait. Sigyn is the impossible girl XD Whovians will get the reference XD

The idea that she’s a ‘blank slate’ is SO STUPID. Yes, we don’t know much about her, but there are still very important stuff we do know. Her love and devotion for Loki and their family. Her loyalty. Her endurance. Her tragic fate, BECAUSE SHE CHOSE TO STAND BY LOKI’S SIDE AND SHARE HIS FATE.

From there, any good writer could take the clues left by the myths, and create a well-developed character, with an agenda and a personality of her own. But, alas, it’s too much to ask. From Marvel, but unfortunately, also from great writers like Neil Gaiman (such a disappointment here... once again, Sigyn is stuck in the part of the long-suffering wife, waiting for bad news to come her way...). 

- ‘She doesn’t have a personality’. Blame Marvel for that, dear. I’d say that to endure the cave, with the snake, and all, and to stay with Loki in those circumstances when she could have just gone back to her mother, that shows a LOT of personality and determination.  Forget Clara. She’s Rose f*** Tyler. <3

XDXD Seriously, WTF? Not “personal slander”, no. But a missed opportunity. And as I said before, it’s not as if we WANTED her to be a love interest for Loki. She could be just an ally, or an enemy ... or looking for her own Loki and finding him, and getting their happy ending in their own timeline. A “What if” episode would be enough, seriously. We just want to know where she is, what she’s doing, if she’s ok.... Just for the MCU to AT LAST acknowledge her existence. I didn’t think that hoping for a simple cameo/mention was so damn much ^^’

(She could also be Mobius. Or B-15. Or the cat. WHO KNOWS???)

Well, yes and no. The main ones have already been done. Also, if you get a Loki series, the least you can do is SHOW HIS WIFE. Or tell us what happened to her. Or just mention her - they talked about past loves, but no mention of her? Or Mobius could have just said in passing that there was a Loki variant who was married... BUT NOTHING.

And you don’t find it strange???

I think the problem with those people is that they lack imagination. They want characters with “actual personality from the comics”.

Sure. Because Jane is the same as she was in the 70′. Same for Thor. Or Loki.

How come Loki is allowed to become a hero/gray character when Sigyn is stuck for ever in the part of the long-suffering wife. (when she could be so much more!)

Jane is allowed to become a great scientist/Lady Thor (and GOOD FOR HER!!!). Sigyn is not even allowed to exist.

NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO EXIST. (in the sacred timeline anyway)

Do you realize how cruel this is? You say we’re staking it as “slander against us”. No, not slander. But still. The MCU is showing us a variant of Loki who craves for affection and loyalty. How happy would he be to know there is someone in the world who would stand by his side in the worst possible circumstances and never betray him? We don’t care if they end up together (well, we’d be happy, but we do realize it’s not gonna happen in canon anyway), but to let Loki know such a person exists would probably give him hope.

All hail Sigyn, goddess of loyalty, fidelity, constancy, victory AND HOPE.
