at some point this loser became my go-to whenever I didn’t know what to draw and that’s terrible

If your character has a pet representation, why did you choose that? In general, how do they navigate their identity with their species or race? --- Hoo boy, this one is rough because I always create my characters based on the pet and not vice versa 8’) Masakii might be interesting since he was adopted on Subeta as a cream keeto and then I recreated him here since I am... never on Subeta...... so we’ll go with him! MASAKII Technically speaking, keetos are closest to a long-eared wocky, but I created him as a kyrii instead because they, as a species, look so SMUG and that fits his personality way more than a particularly fluffy kitty. Speaking of which, kyrii’s default petpages are just full of prideful attitude in general (which I love, don’t get me wrong here) and specifically lists their hair and ability to spot “the biggest wallets” as two of their strongest points, which could only be closer to Masakii if they also mentioned a penchant for making enemies and being insufferable in every regard. As a bonus, kyrii ears are closer to keeto ears so nothing on his design would even have needed to change in his anthro form. The point I’m making here is that the kyrii was definitely the perfect species for him in both the species’ flavor text and his own set design and then I morphed him into a cybunny like a day later. Hear me out. I mostly draw him anthro and generally only from the waist up and in that state he looks like a bunny with fangs SO EVENTUALLY it just became a Thing with one of my friends to make rabbit jokes about him. The jokes then evolved into Masakii Absolutely Loathing anyone implying that he liked or disliked something just because he resembled a rabbit OR anything to do with rabbit puns (but he always hated puns, regardless of subject, so that wasn't really a change). Anyway, it turns out Masakii actually gets (A SMALL DEGREE) of his pettiness from me because I saw the opportunity to turn him into an actual rabbit after I recreated him here and I ran with it DESPITE cybunnies not having floofy tails or fangs and their page text isn’t nearly as indicative in personality. Long story short, I recreated him as a cybunny because my sense of humor is Bad and I would do it again. The gold paint job also doesn’t really match his design, but Masakii’s entire identity is tied around his parents’ massive fortune and legacy to the extent that he is obsessive about money and he really enjoys collecting gold versions of things, so it’s thematically fitting, if nothing else. ..... (also gold karats and carrots, LISTEN............ it was meant to be........) This did mean that I had to edit his parents, Tsubaki and Giovanni, a bit too since Masakii still has his fox-ish tail and fangs so I decided his father is a cybunny and his mother is a wocky, as far as leopets is concerned, which completely explains his design and is definitely how biology works. Yes. It’s on his mother’s side that the legacy of necromancy is passed down so Masakii cares about that side significantly more than his father’s (though he is a practitioner as well, it’s just that Tsubaki’s ancestral ties to it are more unique, but that’s a whole different patch of carrots), which is another reason it irks him to be compared to his dad because who?? Even cares about his (comparably) boring bloodline??? It’s not like he minds being half cybunny and half wocky or anything because he is flawless and amazing in every way (according to him), but he hates the jokes and puns, and don’t even talk to him about carrots unless you are hoping to be involved in an unfortunate accident. I don’t know if that’s technically an answer to the “identifying with their species” thing or not since it mostly boils down to whose heritage he puts more value into and not which species itself he considers better. Masakii’s hubris is definitely pride, but it’s not based on his species (unless it’s implied that someone elses is better than his, in which case he has a million reasons why he is superior) so that particular facet isn’t explored much.

Halloween things

thought it would be fun to quick jot down some Halloween themed stuff about a few of my losers !

Masakii hates Halloween. he loathes it with his very being because of how much pop culture gets wrong about the occult and he can’t even correct other people on it because he’s trying to keep his knowledge on that subject on the down-low and keeping his opinion to himself is suffering 8′)

also all the servants in the Treven household have the day off because Masakii just stays home and works on occult things all day

if one more person ever asks him if he’s dressing up as a vampire he’s going to have their legs broken and home foreclosed

Tana LOVES Halloween because it’s the one day she can be completely open about being a witch and everyone just thinks she’s being festive!! it’s perfect and wonderful and she looks forward to it all year

Winter, unlike her niece, is less enthusiastic and spends most of the day sighing heavily. She gets really nostalgic about Halloween because it reminds her of when she was Actually For Real Young (as opposed to now where she’s stealing youth) and was known as a witch instead of as a sorceress or enchantress, which was a bittersweet time period for her

she makes a big deal of being morose as Tana over-decorates their home, but is only vague and cryptic if she’s actually questioned about it

she’s secretly pleased about the popularity of witch costumes

Chill and Angie live for Halloween and love scaring people at night, which has only gotten worse since they’ve been getting better with their fire & wind powers, respectively uvu;;; Heath is the most common victim but Lava gets it pretty bad too

Angie bribes her brother, Fie, to play video games with her afterwards with the offer of three pieces of candy per round (unless it’s like, a full-sized candy bar or something, in which case it is a 1:1 ratio)

ALSO I...... really liked how his hair looked with that middle outfit so I doodled him with it some more :3c except he accidentally turned out older with too narrow of a face in that 3/4th view one, I haven’t draw human!Masakii in a while lmao

I’m reading a draft of Masakii’s petpage that I wrote at some point when leopets was going to switch servers and I’m dying because even just typing ABOUT him I suddenly get ridiculously long-winded and snide like

As it turns out, the answer was absolutely nothing because of course his natural specialization is the best, how dare you even question it, but it is generally a good idea to have backups on those rare occasions when one is NOT conveniently surrounded by dead things and is in danger of being systematically and painfully dismantled.

that sure is a single sentence with every word definitely being necessary in its execution
