Adamo e Eva: Masaru Bando’s Bronze Compassion in Hakone・アダモとエヴァ:箱根に響く板東優の青銅の共感
This bronze sculpture, “Adamo e Eva” (Adam and Eve), was created by Masaru Bando (板東 優) in 1994 for the Pola Museum of Art in Hakone, Japan. Known for blending timeless themes with contemporary issues, Bando’s work often reflects deep social-political concerns.
“Adamo e Eva” captures the artist’s compassion for those affected by the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War. Born in Hokkaido, Bando studied in Tokyo and Rome before gaining international recognition. His works, including 13 pieces at the Pola Museum, range from playful to monumental.
