Masatoshi Koshiba, 94, Dies; Nobel Winner Tracked Ghostly Neutrinos Masatoshi Koshiba was born on Sept. 19, 1926, in the coastal city of Toyohashi, in central Japan, the second child of Toshio and Hayako Koshiba.
A physics teacher had flunked him, denigrating his abilities. Dr. Koshiba set out to prove the teacher was wrong.
