Delicate and elegant, these Matcha Madeleines are a delightful twist on the classic French cookie. The addition of matcha powder lends a beautiful green hue and a subtle earthy flavor to these buttery treats.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon matcha powder. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 2 eggs. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and prepare a madeleine mold by greasing and flouring it. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until pale and slightly thickened. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined. Add the melted butter and gently fold until the batter is smooth. Spoon the batter into the madeleine mold, filling each indentation about 3/4 full. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the madeleines are lightly golden and spring back when touched. Remove from the oven and let the madeleines cool in the mold for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with a little powdered sugar or matcha powder before serving, if desired.
