It's been years of watching Dean and Cas dance around their feelings and at this point, Sam's losing hope that they'll ever take that step and talk things out already. One well-placed spell from Rowena makes Dean and Cas incapable of not talking, but even that doesn't get them together. Will Sam ever be able to help the morons he's forced to live with get together already, or is he destined for a life of perpetually being stuck between them as some sort of bizarre marriage counselor that neither seems aware the other also talks to?
Keep reading for a sneak preview!
"It's just so painful," he laments a few days later to Rowena, both more than a little drunk in the Bunker's library, Dean and Cas having already gone to bed (unfortunately in different rooms). "They're just…so obvious to everyone except each other. How don't they realize?"
"Noo, why should they? It's not like all of Heaven and Hell figured it out before them or anything."
"I just don't get it. I mean, Dean's eyes are always practically glued to Cas' eyes or lips or his butt and he still hasn't picked up on the fact that there might be something a little weird about that if they really were 'just friends'?" Sam's drink sloshes violently in his glass as he gestures around the room, agitated. "Cas only gets an excuse because he hasn't even been on Earth for a decade, but somebody as old as him should probably at least have an idea what all those feelings are, right?"
"Aye, the poor dears don't have a brain cell between them when it comes to matters of the heart, it seems," Rowena says sagely. "They can be more than a little daft when something doesn't involve killing or dying or crying…"
"They're so hopeless," Sam agrees miserably, burying his face in his hands to rub at his forehead and push his hair behind his ears. "I have to live with them so it's just constant. I-I don't know what to do anymore."
Rowena's quiet for a long moment before she hums to herself. "There might be some way to get their heads out from within their tushies…"
He looks up at that, though judging by the twinkle in the witch's eye, he's gonna regret listening. "What do you mean?" he asks warily anyway, blaming the alcohol for him even considering…whatever it is Rowena is going to suggest.
"Well, all it takes is a wee spell or two and those two will be singing like canaries."
"About their disgustingly sappy love for each other?" Sam guesses, but the witch just smirks.
"About everything. Anything that comes to mind." Sam stares at her blankly, but Rowena doesn't seem to notice. "Oh, I imagine it wouldn't be more than but a few days before certain thoughts come out and certain feelings are revealed…"
"Rowena…"
"Don't tell me you've changed your mind? It's not like there are all that many ways to get those two to sit down and talk about their feelings, Samuel."
Sam considers it, his drunken mind unable to see why this might be a bad idea beyond Dean getting pissed off. Then again, Dean gets pissed if he sees something green on his plate, so Sam's not all that concerned. "What's the cure?"
Rowena's smirk widens, nearly splitting her face in two. "True love's kiss."
I wish you would write a fic where… Jon is in love with Lady Sansa, or so the all knowing Sam tells him.
“I don’t get what she likes about him Sam, he doesn’t offerher anything.” Jon said sitting with Sam in his solar, he was talking aboutsome bannerman for the Tully’s that had flirted with he, harmlessly so. He remarked itcasually, while looking over numbers and the accounts for the winter months. It wasmerely in passing, and in between two sentences that didn’t correlate. Samcould tell it was more than that, but he didn’t say anything.
Two dayslater, he does it again. It’s just Sam and Jon sitting together because Sansahad excused herself from dinner early. She gave them both small smiles, and leftwithout another word from her lips.
“She lookedreally beautiful, didn’t she? I mean she was always so beautiful, even when wewere kids.” Jon said wistfully. His mind was somewhere else; probably thinkingabout Winterfell years before, when he was just Ned Stark’s bastard and Sansawas betrothed to a golden prince.
“She isbeautiful.” Sam responded quietly. He was still nervous around her. She had acommanding presence, and yet she was always kind to him. He had never metanyone like her before.
“That’s true.”Jon said.
“So whenwere you going to tell me?” Sam asked. His face was riddled with concern for hisbest friend.
“Tell youwhat?” Jon responded unassuming. He looked perplexed, and Sam gave an equallyconfused face. Why was he trying to hide it?
“You are inlove with her.” Sam said and Jon almost spit the wine he sipped. “With LadySansa.”
“What?” Jonalmost shouted, but then his voice resonated, so he went to a whisper. “She ismy sister Sam, I am not in love with my sister.”
“She is notyour sister, not technically.” Sam corrected him. Jon hadn’t gotten used to hisparentage yet. “And you are too.”
Sam shouldstart listing reasons why he has reached this conclusion, but instead hewatches Jon reach them himself. Jon’s face turns from horrified at Sam tohorrified at himself. Jon is remembering things that he has said about her, toher, or in any reference where Sansa may be involved at all.
“I justcare for her Sam.” Jon said quietly. “It doesn’t mean I love her the way Iloved…” he trails off after that. Sam knows he is talking about Ygritte, thewildling girl with fiery red hair, and an equally fiery personality.
“ Youaren’t supposed to love her the same way Jon.” Sam responded. “Lady Sansa isbeautiful, and sweet.” Sam paused to find the right words. “Even though you canshe’s lonely, and it gets hard sometimes for her. I know you feel the same Jon.Aren’t you tired of being alone?”
“I am notalone.” Jon tried to make his voice sound cool and confident, but it cracked. It cracked the way Sam was cracking Jon. He knew Jon better than he knewhimself.
“You thinkI can’t see the way you look at her? When she leaves for her chambers atnight?” Sam continued. “It’s like you want to go with her.
“I justwant to keep her safe.” Jon said. “Nights are the hardest for me, and I fearthey are hard for her too.”
“Then go toher.” Sam quipped back. He hit Jon’s shoulder lightly, and Jon forces a laugh.
“She won’twant me there.” Jon said looking at his hands to avoid Sam’s gaze. Sam thoughtfor a second, remembering the looks Sansa would give Jon when he wasn’t looking,or how she talked about Jon adoringly to him.
“Yes, Jon.”Sam said it, prophetically so. “She does want you there.”

Spoilers: All of seasons four and five
Summary: "Dude, I can't do this whole thing by myself," Dean said with far more desperation leaking into his tone than he liked. It would just be too much to make it through hell and death and Lucifer only to have Castiel bail on him because of a frigging baby.
