The Joy of Motherhood (Phux)

Hux was extremely unsure why Phasma was behaving the way she did. But then again, her complaints of nausea were pretty reasonable- maybe she had a stomach bug. Nonetheless, he came into her quarters, just to make sure she was okay.
Phasma was on the bed, in her pajamas, and looking fairly miserable. A plastic bowl was at her side, and her stomach looked a bit rounder then how she normally did.
"Armitage, I think you need to know something," she said, looking towards him.
"Anything, angel."
"I went to the medbay- I'm pregnant. We're expecting a baby, love!" she said, her hair still in limp victory rolls from last night.
"Angel, that's amazing! When will we find out if it's a boy or a girl?"
"We'll have to wait a bit longer then. For now, we need to get ready and prepare for that day. Who will lead the troops, anyway? I'm pretty sure I'll need to take a maternity leave. And what about a nanny droid?"
"Oh, Phasma, don't fret. It's a long while from now. You'll be fine, and then we'll be parents," he said, kissing his wife.
Time passed, and the captain's wardrobe changed from the chrome suit of armor to a maternity jumpsuit, still in the shade of silver she was accustomed to. She would train a bit with her troops, still, but as the delivery date got closer, her days of training slowed down slightly. A few weeks before the delivery, she decided to give them the week off- that day was fresh in their minds, since it was the first time they saw her in victory rolls and makeup, as well as a cute pin-up style dress with a full skirt.
One lovely spring day, just as she was reading a book, the first sign came.
"Armitage- the baby's here."
Quickly, they packed their belongings into suitcases and went down to the medbay, eager to get a bed for the captain. Sure enough, there was one open- and just in time.
The doctor fretted over the captain, who was now in a hospital gown rather than her dress. Hux stood by her, in scrubs, holding her hand gently.
"Captain, your child is very healthy and will come out just fine. However, we will have to do a C-section," he said. "Will that be alright?"
"Just do it," she moaned, bracing herself for the shot of anesthetic that would end up bringing life into the world. After a while, she woke up to the sounds of tiny cries.
"It's a girl!" Hux exclaimed, as the child cried while the doctors bathed her and swaddled her. Phasma opened her eyes, still in a daze, unaware that the doctors finished stitching her up. Guided by a nurse, she sat up and looked at the bundle Hux held in his arms. She was a lovely little girl, with a patch of blonde hair like her mommy, and daddy's freckles. Both parents teared up, smiling in wonder at the tiny girl who entered their lives.
"Brienne's absolutely lovely, isn't she?" Phasma asked Hux.
"She certainly is," he answered, hugging his wife as he beamed. Out of everything that happened, this was the proudest moment of his life.
