i only discovered your blog recently but already i love it and your style!
13 & 18 for the ask game? :)
:D cheers !
13 - Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people?
Because I'm alternating working in the animation industry and in comics, I get to do both kind of! Having structure and not being the one making the final decision is such a relief sometimes. The downside being : as much as they are necessary and helpful to learn from, I think retakes are never fun lol.
When I'm drawing just for myself I love the freedom to just do whatever I prefer, *and* it's lovely doing art for someone else spontaneously. So I'd say as long as I get to choose what I'm doing I'm happy
18 - What are you currently trying to improve on?
Comics! I'm well advanced in the process of making my first graphic novel, and boy is it tough. Comics come easy to me, but making a 230 pages story opens the Doors of Doom and make you realise you have everything to learn, really.
So pacing, composition, layouts, dialogue (god, dialogue), and more.
For the art side I really admire people who can draw from memory lots of different body shapes and faces that look natural, of men in particular (tangent meeting ask number 19 - women are so easy to draw, I swear men were born to be incomprehensible to me) Crowds are interesting cause I feel like the people I draw don't blend in very well? Anyways.
Late again today! Here’s Inktober number 4 : Under Water
Inktober 5 : Long Inspired by the long journeys to go and see a loved one (poke @marceloleary <3 )
Researches for the flyer presented in the festival. We ended up doing something closer to the style of the film, but it felt really good to go back to ink after 2 months animating on tvpaint!
Here’s another one! The additional characters and compositing on the final shot are the work of @mollejames - you can see it on the final film over there : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18R6eVa38us&t=1s
