Genuinely shocked at how little attention this has gotten on tumblr after looking through the dancing on ice tag!!! I don't watch it myself to be honest but my mam called me in because she said they were making history and she thought I'd like to see it and let me tell you I was in tears 😭

Same sex couple skating for the first time ever in dancing on ice! Pair skating is severely hetero normative and as a figure skating fan it gave me so much joy to see these two men, Ian 'H' Watkins and Matt Evers, two out and proud gay men, unapologetically be affectionate towards one another on national television after their amazing skate.

After doing some research about these two wholesome men I found this qoute on Wikipedia from Matt

"Evers, who was married to a woman previously, came out as gay in January 2018 in an interview with Attitude magazine. He said it was partly the death of his uncle from AIDS and the presidency of Donald Trump that resulted in his decision to announce his sexuality publicly, saying: "I live my life by example, and I want to show young people that what you feel or how you were born isn't something bad."

Honestly so much respect for Matt, who is actually a (I think now retired just working on dancing on ice as a partner skater to contestants) professional pair skater after years of doing hetero skating now being happy who he is and MAKING HISTORY as part of the first same sex couple in dancing on ice 👏👏👏 what a glow up!! He went on to say this after the skate also;

"Thank you the the network, thank you to ITV and everyone watching at home that is accepting of because this is normal"

Just amazing 😭😭 also Holly Willoboughy being a good ally saying "may this continue everywhere!!" ❤️

Ian, the actual contestant is better known as H from Steps is out and proud since 2007 with a loving husband and two adorable twin sons, he was named on the 2017 Pink List of leading Welsh LGBT figures too so major respect to him too!!

Judge John Barrowman's (who is an out proud gay man also) reaction though is what moved me to tears because idiots says representation doesn't matter but you watch that video and you dare tell me it doesn't matter he's genuinely moved to tears because he's so happy to see himself, and other gay men represented in such a hetero normative sport you can see just how much it means to him it's truly heartwarming ❤️❤️❤️

John's words after the skate;

"That makes me happy on a complete multitude of levels, just because of seeing two men who represent someone who is like me. And to skate as well as you did you've done it now you've shown that two men CAN preform in skate together. It doesn't be as you did before Man-Woman thing, Man-Man, do it, Switch it up leaders different ways be versatile you know what I'm saying! Listen I'm overwhelmed, I'm almost speechless it was just wonderful"

EVERYBODY IN UK AND IRELAND PLEASE TUNE IN AND SHOW SUPPORT SO WE CAN CAN SEE MORE OF THIS IN THE FUTURE!!! Show them that inclusion of same sex couples will get more people watching and maybe next season we could see two female skaters!!!!!!

It's just aired it's first episode of the season yesterday so it's easy to jump in to, I know I'll be watching it every week supporting Ian and Matt hoping they make it all the way to the top!!

Dancing on Ice.

The other day on Dancing on Ice, TV history was made. Two men, Ian 'H' Watkins and Matt Evers were partnered and performed live on Saturday night tv and can I just say ..

About bloody time!

I was watching at home but I still felt the atmosphere from it all. It was awe inspiring.

Love is love.

Hopefully one day in the future it wont be such big news and seeing things like this will be normal.

To all those complaining,time to get used to it. The LGBTQ+ are getting the representation that they need.
