Valentine’s Day Foodie Staycation at The Fullerton Hotel
To celebrate our 1st Valentine’s Day together, my wife and I decided on a fun staycation at The Fullerton Hotel where we would go on a foodie tour around the neighborhood, ticking off restaurants from our bucket list.
Foodie Stop 1 - La Brasserie.
First stop during our staycation was a weekend brunch at La Brasserie where diners could order items off a buffet selection which comprised of salads, soups, mains, sides, sweets, and local favorites such as laksa and chicken rice.
Some of the items that we tried included Baby Spinach and Granny Smith Apple Salad, Butcher’s Block Charcuterie, Escargots, Blackened Ahi Tuna Nicoise, Meat Galore, and Satay. Although the food offerings for the brunch did not really meet our expectations, it was still an enjoyable experience as we could dine in relative comfort while overlooking the beautiful bay area.
Foodie Stop 2 - Maxi Coffee Bar.
After filling our belly, it was time for coffee and what better place to do so than the hip cafe, Maxi Coffee Bar, located at Ann Siang Hill.
Being adventurous, I tried the E&T which consist of a shot of espresso mixed with tonic water, resulting in a refreshing cool espresso soda. My wife ordered a Big Boy’s White which is a flat white consisting of two shots of espresso, perfect as a pick-me-up on a lazy afternoon.
Foodie Stop 3 - Jigger & Pony.
With a bit of luck, we scored seats at one of the best bars in the world, Jigger & Pony, which is renowned for a wide selection of delectable cocktails.
The bar menu presents its offerings in a fun magazine with a quick menu that categories the cocktails based on their alcohol strength.
Our first round of drinks consists of the popular Yuzu Whiskey Sour and Jasmine & Rice. The Whiskey Sour is a must-try while Jasmine & Rice is a hit and miss with my wife.
Although the food menu is limited, the items are delicious and goes perfectly with the cocktails. We loved our selection of Jamon Iberico Toast, Tomato Tartare, and Brioche served with a marmite and butter mixture.
Our second round of drinks consist of Espresso Martini and Sakura Martini. Espresso Martini is another favorite for me and my wife, while the Sakura Martini is strong, crisp, and clear.
We absolutely loved our visit to Jigger & Pony and we will return to try out other cocktails including Clover Club, Soy Milk Punch, and Corn Colada.
Foodie Stop 4 - Park Bench Deli.
Our last stop for our foodie staycation is the popular Park Bench Deli which is famous for its amazing sandwich offerings. The deli started as a pop-up store for takeaways and it was so well-received by the community that it setup a restaurant in Tanjong Pagar to share its yummy creations with more people.
Coffee was great while the Truffle Tater Tots is so addictive that you need to try it to believe it.
We ordered the spicy Hot Honey Chicken and the juicy Roast Beef Dip. Both sandwiches are highly recommended and we will definitely return again to try out more items on the menu.
