9/10/25.
Maxïmo Park's "A Certain Trigger" holds a place in my mind as one of the best (if not the best) of the post-punk releases of the 2000s. It came out in 2005 and has never stopped being a regular listen of mine. I own 4 CDs all having to do with "A Certain Trigger". When it came out, I was really into The Futureheads and Field Music, so Maxïmo Park (Newcastle, England) fit nicely alongside those bands.
Paul Smith's vocals definitely remind me of Paul Weller's early vocals in The Jam. Another Bandcamp page (this one has a live studio release from 2019) mentions XTC, Wire and The Smiths as inspirations for the band.
So, not only was a post for this iconic album long overdue, but it also serves to let us know about the 20th anniversary releases that are available through Townsend Music. I'm particularly drawn to the 3 LP version.
"A Certain Trigger" was originally released on Warp Records.

Pete Wentz I hate you for giving me this gut wrenching song recommendation. You ruined and changed my life. Thank you.
