What's funny, I think I'm starting to like this story. It brought me back to that feeling of discomfort and unpleasant goosebumps from creepipasta like in childhood. Creepypasta makes you feel fear for Max and Ruby and absolute dislike for Fred of this version, because it is very responsive in situations in life for many people. A story that evokes any emotions and presents some reflections is very effective!
