guys i might try my hand at some pixel art and see if i can get it put into a game

lots of context/further explanation below the cut if you care

so if you've ever heard of Yume Nikki, this is about one of it's fangames (Yume 2kki). if you dont know what yume nikki is, its a japanese game from like 2013/2015, made with rpgmaker2000 and it was heavily inspired by games like lsd dream emulator and other cool things (you can google these)

Yume 2kki is a fangame that's STILL being worked on, i feel like this game is perpetually in development (which under normal game circumstances would be annoying but for this its actually incredible)

there is SO much fucking content in this game, it's amazing

but so one of the things that is special to this fangame are the specific collectibles (mainly the "wallpapers"

in the game you have a little mini computer that you save your game at and can play the games bgms, see the games data, its really cool, but you can also pick a specific background for it

exploring the game and making things happen unlocks different wallpapers — back when i played it the most (2022-2023) there were around 400 something wallpapers, now, in the most recent (full) version i have, there's 1,075 (which is fucking insane)

so i was thinking of how many there are and how many different artists have contributed to the game through these wallpapers, and i looked up how to submit a wallpaper for the game (what the requirements were, who to send it to, etc.) and it seems pretty doable :3 — small canvas, pixel art, not-too-limited choice of colors, i think i could do it

i might even do two or three if i'm really feeling up to it
