WATER TREATMENT PLANT, 23RD OF MAY. @daiyus
Cargo trucks hunkered down with supplies head towards the water treatment plant, fighting flooded mudfields and soggy plains to get to those people who are still trapped inside the building. Amongst all the talk of who is assigned where and game plans amongst the soldiers, there is a murmur of surprise, too. It’s unlike Alexei to call a rescue mission like this, Teddy hears, though it’s easy to see how this time is different when his daughter’s name appears on the list of those that are missing and presumed to be at the plant. Teddy’s own son is on that list, too, and so he and Mara are amongst the first to volunteer for the rescue team. They travel in seperate trucks, avoiding drawing too much attention to the worry over their son.
As his partner tends to Felix somewhere else in the makeshift medical camp, Teddy stays at his post, comforted to know he’s in good hands with Mara again. He tends to a fire at the center of camp, started by some Enforcer a few hours ago, adding kindling and poking embers as needed. He manages the ration packs, handing out old woolen blankets to those that approach the back of the van, doors swung open like a sign of safety. When Daiyu herself is lead over by another volunteer and sat fireside, Teddy abandons the kindling and hurries to gather supplies for her. “You must be hungry,” he says, back turned to her, rummaging for a pack of crackers and a serving of venison jerky. He hustles over to meet her at the fire again, handing over the food and a folded blanket. “I know it’s not much, I’m sorry.”
