Her eyes flew open and pain flared up from everywhere.

“What the fuck--” Akira could only manage to croak out as she tried to struggle to an upright position, but a hand pressed gently on her shoulder. Mayako gazed down at her, quiet but visibly relieved that her sister had woken up.

Their eyes met, and Mayako sighed, “Been a couple of days since the accident. Broken ribs, landed bad on your right leg and broke that, a million cuts and bruises, but at least there wasn’t any internal bleeding. Your helmet saved you. The truck driver’s okay, but your death machine’s totaled.”

Akira grimaced, both in pain and at the news, “Fucking dammit...”

“I’m never gonna see you unless it’s on a hospital bed, am I?” her sister sniffed, rolling herself closer and handing her the cracked but still functional phone. The light haired girl pressed her lips together, refusing to look up from all the notifications on the screen, “Cus every other time we do is just you ragging on me and my job.”

“Because of shit like this! You’re just like dad!” Mayako raised her voice in anger, motioning towards her injuries. She took a breath, and pulled her hand back, clenching it in a fist, “Never mind. Just... never mind.” She turned around and left the room to call the nurse.

Mayako: Back at the academy, Miss Mahn was pretty cool. The only women who compare are Frost & Storm. We need more kick-ass women professors.

Eden: A lot of my professors look at me funny, like I’m gonna break something. Rude.
