My garden
The May garden filling up with color ! Pink Truffles Baptisia so very pretty along with the striking Gerald Darby Iris. Not shown in the picture, but, this iris emerges with dark black purple foliage. The flower stems curl seductively and are a deep purple color.
Mid - May Catharpin, Virginia
The garden has exploded in vibrance & virility... a divine #maygarden #scentscape #floralodyssey #iris #festoonoffruitsandflowers #greatgardens #nowness https://www.instagram.com/lcwrichmond/p/BxJDLtIAfm8/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1nxlsr8a7xc0y
Skyline fence at Veddw, a garden in Wales designed by the owners, Anne Wareham & Charles Hawes. We'll see it on our spring garden tour to England (& Wales!) + 13 other gardens & the fabulous Chelsea Flower Show, May 19-27. See details here: http://www.carexdesign.com/tours/chelsea-flower-show-english-gardens-spring/
The garden comes to life in full force in May.
Early Morning dew fall glistens on these Shooting Stars in their glory time !
Low springtime light lends a certain moodiness to the garden in the early morning, and again, with the evening glow. Love those Spessart Geraniums sparkling in the shadow of the heptacodium.
End of May show with moody, dark purple spires of Caradonna Saliva, quirky light pink mounds of Monarda bradburiana, fluffy blue spires of Walkers Low Catmint and lavender Allium umbels weaving through it all. The dark red Ruby Port Aquilegia is finishing up, so nice a few waited for the catmint to come into full flower.
Beautiful in bud and amazing in flower ~ Kopper Kettle Peony
A wonderful thing to have flowering in the early May garden. Kopper Kettle is an Itoh (intercessional) peony. These peonies are a cross between the herbaceous peony and the tree peony. They look exotic and fragile, but, actually are very easy to grow and long lived.
Showy flowers for the May garden - alliums, peonies and poppies !
