So I *may* have been bingereading the MBF series for the first time since 2019 and I *may* be obsessed with those frickin nerds again

There's just something about them! The Mystery Best Friends are such a fun dynamic to play with, honestly. I hope you're enjoying the series on a reread, and hope that it still holds up all these years later! It's wild how long ago @sylwritesstuff and I started the series... But we had good times with it <3

Over the last few days, I've fallen in love with your Pinescone fics. Especially the Will "Cook" for Food AU and the MBF series. I actually stayed up all night to read through all four posted installments of MBF and the side stories. You and Skimming are masterful storytellers and have made me fall in love with the antics of Wirt, Greg, Mabel, and Dipper. Keep up the good work and it is a relief to hear that the MBF series is still in progress. I will eagerly await the next installment!

I miss Will “Cook” For Food! That one was an absolute delight to write :D AUs are a ton of fun, and I’m glad you enjoyed reading it!!

And, yes, MBF is still in the works! I know we’ve been promising part five for a while, but it’s been a struggle 3 We’re doing our best though :D

is it possible that you are including dipper and wirt's first time on the mbf series?? because that would be really cute but have kept things pretty pg for the time being

Definitely not in the main 6 parts of the series. They don’t have sex for the first time until they’re in college, and that happens after the 6th part of the MBF. Because Wirt is on the ace spectrum - demisexual - it takes some time for them since Wirt doesn’t actually know anything about asexuality. Neither does Dipper, for that matter. Wirt’s just Wirt. He doesn’t like labels :)

So here's a question: Since you guys started writing before it ended, did the ending of Gravity Falls change how you write Dipper and Mabel in the mystery best friends series?

Nope! Their personalities are still the same, and we already had so much of 6 written and Radio Silence was basically all posted by that point with all of our Bill headcanons attached. Neither of us saw a reason to totally rewrite the series based on that.

So, as far as Bill’s concerned, the Mystery Best Friends series is very canon divergent. Weirdmageddon played out very differently as far as the mbf series is concerned

Hey syl! Love MBF! I was wondering what would Dipper's reaction be to Wirt finding out his birth name. I assume Wirt still calls him Dipper but would Dip be upset about Wirt knowing seeing how he doesn't want anyone to know?

Dipper’s mortified when it does happen, because it will in the MBF series when they finally make it to college. He hates his name because it’s just so matchy to Mabel’s and it just doesn’t fit him as a person like Dipper does. He’s been Dipper Pines since he was a tiny kid. It’s like…

Say your name is Tom. You’ve been called Tom your whole life and it’s the only name you’ve ever really known. Now all of a sudden someone starts calling you Larry. It just wouldn’t fit.

But Dipper at least, despite his embarrassment, knows that Wirt would never actually call him by his name. Wirt knows his name is Dipper. Wirt knows he only wants to be known as Dipper. Why else would his name be such a secret?

So Dipper’s immediate reaction would be “OH MY GOD, HE KNOWS. I’LL NEVER LIVE IT DOWN. HE’S GOING TO MAKE FUN OF ME FOREVER AND… and… wait, it’s Wirt. Wirt, Wirt, babe, just don’t tell Greg. That’s not my name, seriously.”

What's the number on Dipper's baseball jersey? I can't find it in Broken Arms & Baseball and it's been bugging me for a week. Sorry if it's in there an I just keep missing it, but I have to know!
