SIDE NOTE: I didn’t realize how instinctively I phrase things when I speak naturally instead of bein’ corrected by folk or hyper aware of how I SHOULD speak, sounds similar to him? Like phrases I say without thinkin’ much. Like lightweight thang, I say stuff like that often. Is southern dialect ingrained in our DNA the same way our trauma and dreams are passed down? I’m curious.

Oh and you can tell Sammie is reluctant to leave Smoke once the hug they shared subsided, toward the end of the film.

His entire body language gives the impression of someone who wants to reach for a person beyond grasp. Almost like Sammie knew that’s the last hug he’ll get from his uncle cousin Elijah Smoke Moore and he’s trynna cling onto the ghost of the distant past that soon will take form as a memory.
