Magnificent January - Week 1: The Firsts' Festival -> Season One
returning is not an ability, it is a necessity, Ibrahim.
#maybe a basic choice but I had to edit our lovely first season for the anniversary!#as I talked with the girls the other day. s1 just has a different aura than the other ones...#and save the ending it could be a series on its own! I also love the theme of losing and finding homes and returning and converting#I love it as a season in which us also have to adapt to this new environment through the perspectives of the characters#and how for that same reason it feels in many ways like a calm before the storm. before the doom is irremediable#but at the same time this is a season of ghosts [sadika & leo] that not only haunt its characters but also the narrative#and foreshadow some of the show's biggest tragedies as well#idk. just a masterpiece! I tried to encapsulate the season the most that I could but obvs there's a lot of characters and themes missing#[also so much of this was me realizing that the knife vs seal subrahim moment is sort of a parallel to the turkish delights one#in the sense there's a choice -that is not really a choice- between death or power/leaving your past behind that someone. representing#the system. forces on ibro/hu after the suspicion of a betrayal to the sultan -and these ''betrayals''#are both discovered in Ibro's/leo's letters that don't reach their loved ones!!- so the scenes are a perfect encapsulation#of this iconic ibro monologue's thesis aka converting never being a real choice but a necessity to stay alive]#mahidevran sultan#sultan suleyman#ibrahim pasha#hurrem sultan#victoria#sadika hatun#ayse hafsa sultan#magnificent century#muhtesem yuzyil#mcj2026#magnificent century january 2026#mc edit#perioddramaedit#graphics#graphic edit#my edits
