McGuireWoods even targeted an ex-client, apparently violating ethics rules, as it helped to boot journalists who wouldn't bolster Donald Trump's image.

Former federal ethics officials are calling for an investigation of a powerhouse law firm that helped former Voice of America overseer and Steve Bannon crony Michael Pack identify and purge journalists who didn’t sing Donald Trump’s praises.

The firm, McGuireWoods, was paid as much as $3 million as part of a confidential no-bid federal contract to pore over employees’ records and social media communications. McGuireWoods compiled dossiers and created cases of alleged “misconduct” to justify Pack’s purge, according to a whistleblower complaint.

The aim of Pack’s efforts was to turn VOA into a propaganda machine to continually bolster Trump’s image ahead of the presidential election, according to the complaint, which was revealed early this year.

We'll Miss Bob.

This Saturday Richmond laid Robert Patterson Jr, former head of McGuireWoods to rest.  As a long time family friend, we were honored to be present at his memorial service at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, and were truly awed by the outpour of support and reverence for this great man.  Quoted as the last "gentleman of the old school" and a "local lion" in recent articles in The Richmond Times Dispatch, this legend of a businessman and admired member of our commonwealth will be sorely missed.
