Howdy, everyone!

We will be opening today at 7:00 PM CT (View results of the poll here). We will be opening up with more memes to get a better sense of our characters. We will be having our opening event this weekend from Friday - Sunday. Threads are allowed to be finished within the following week, but we encourage them to be done that weekend. This is for a single image, and we will be releasing a full imitamen theme, a imitamen live, and imitamen message system (as well as other social media sites). With this psd we are releasing the tag: mcusaimitamen for instagram posts. These can be used as character developments (just keep in mind we only allow 4 media posts per day). GENETICS and MAGIC

Within our universe, magic is directly tied to genetics. The magic gene is an autosomal, dominant trait. It is a mutation in this gene that causes squibs within a magical family or a wix in a non-magic family. We suggest reading this article, or just reading what we’ve blockquoted. But if it's a dominant trait, then where did Hermione's magic come from, as the first witch to be born in her family? Hermione is an example of a "de novo" mutation — a genetic mutation that appears in a lineage for the first time, due to a mutation in the egg or sperm, or within the embryo itself following fertilization. A random mutation could also explain how a non-magical squib could be born to two magical parents, he added.

If the wizarding gene is working correctly, it makes a certain type of protein. The phenotype, or observable characteristics resulting from that activity, is magical ability. But if there's a mutation in that gene — Spana suggested calling it the "SQUIB" mutation — a different type of protein turns the magic gene off. If one parent's DNA carries a copy of the SQUIB mutation, it can turn off the wizarding protein, which cancels a child's ability to do magic.

"We do this in fruit flies all the time," Spana said, referring to the manipulation of hereditable traits in general and not of genes for magic.

And then there are individual variations in wizarding ability, with some witches and wizards recognized to be more powerful than their fellows. Could genetics explain that as well? Not entirely, Spana said.

"I come from the 'basketball school' — genetics makes you 6-foot-8, but it doesn't give you skill. Working at it gives you skill," Spana said. Hermione's power, as well as the varying degrees of expertise demonstrated by the Weasley children, suggests that one's magical ability is not completely reliant on genetics, he said.

We have changed the inactivity limit from  FIVE DAYS of inactivity merits a warning. SIX DAYS of inactivity will result in your character(s) being removed from the game to:

We know that responding to starters can be difficult because your character is put in a situation that may not be normal to their behavior, but we ask that you try and respond to as many starters as you can. 

Please do not GodMod, if you are ever missing information, or have an idea please talk to your partner before continuing. 

If you ever are uncomfortable about where a thread is going please:           talk to your partner to plot something out           talk to us           let your partner know that you’ll be dropping the thread because you feel like it is something your character wouldn’t do.

Hello everyone! 

We have added the following rules in regards to activity and taking up multiple muses. We love that everyone is dedicated, but it is also important to note that activity makes or breaks an rp. These rules are now in effect and should be followed from this point on. If you have any questions please contact an admin.

1. You need to fill out the semi-hiatus or full hiatus form to let us know that you need time off OR let us know that you need time off. We do check in with y’all if we see that you’ve been inactive. We understand if you need time due to school, time to refresh, or other issues. 

2. If you have been on an activity check 3 times within a 2 month period, the fourth time will result in an unfollow. You may rejoin, but you will be limited to one muse for the first 2 weeks of you being back. There is a chance that your fc or connection is picked up by someone else, so please try and be active.

3. You will be allowed 3 muses to start off, after that you must wait one week before taking on additional muses. Again, please only take on as much as you can handle. If you have not been with us for more than a week and have more than 3 characters that is ok, but you may not take more until you reach a week.

4. In order to be considered active you need to meet one of the following:

Have a minimum of 3 interactions per character(s).

Have a minimum of 2 interactions per character(s) and complete the weekly task.

Have a minimum of 2 interactions per character(s) and post at least 2 self-paras, headcanons, or other character development material.

These rules are not meant to stress anyone out. As admins, we know that life happens and are always willing to help out, but we need for you to communicate with us. If you have read this please comment with your schoolhouse (it can be any school!). Like always, if there is something that you do not agree with or want to bring another issue to us please let us know via ask, anon ask, messaging the blog, or sending a dm to our discords!

Hello Everyone,

  We are officially stating that MCUSA will be going on an indefinite semi-hiatus. What this means is that we will still be accepting people, but we will not be having activity checks or actively trying to get people to join. Unfortunately, things became very hard for us in our personal lives, and we feel that while we do not want to close MCUSA, we do need to take a small step back and reevaluate.  We love this rp, and it has been something that we have all put our hearts into.  We thank you for staying with us ( if you choose too ).  However, if you feel like you no longer wish to be part of our family, that is more than ok. Just let us know if you no longer wish to continue with us.

Hello Everyone!

We wanted to formally announce that we are on a hiatus as a group. This rp is NOT closed, we still have tons that we are going to do, and are in the process of introducing new aspects. However, at this time, we feel that we need to take a moment to regroup and revamp. We want to thank everyone who is still with us, and to please continue interacting or posting media!
