I still absolutely love how Wolfwalkers ended.
Love that it still ultimately focused on Robyn and Mebh and how they leave their old world behind to find a new one, just for them, their parents, and the wolf family to live in peace, far away from the townspeople. How after all that drama and near-death experiences, they just get to rest in the caravan, protected by their respective parent and live together in the forest.
No more societal expectations. No more gender roles. No need to appease a bunch of people who really only want them dead for what they are. No focus on these two literal children to change a townâs whole mindset like so many other films do. No, the message was just these two girls finding their happy ending with their loved ones somewhere else and just cutting out that toxic environment all together.
Why waste energy trying to help a bunch of people they donât even have any real attachment to, after all? Especially with people who actively forced roles they didnât want onto them and mistreated them for being different? Itâs just such a breath of fresh air to see a film that ends with the characters finding happiness and peace in their own little slice of heaven, rather than wasting time, energy, and emotions on trying to change others.
do you think cringelordofchaos headcanons us as wild chaotic rebel x light haired kind girl who feels pressure to fit in get surprisingly more than along and learn so much from each other yuri in every universe
Is it normal to always zoom in on drawings of your ship growing old together and try to find a ring somewhere???
Excuse me while I watch Wolfwalkers on repeat and obsess over how cute these two are
Iâm reading the Wolfwalkers graphic novel, I missed these gay wolves X3
Interesting how shipping two little girls (in the âinnocent first crushâ sense) who are NOT confirmed to be step-sisters is considered âyiikesâ, but thinking an adult woman and adult man who barely even interacted in the movie are married (because at most the man gave the woman a flower) is not worth a yikes?
If you think an adult woman and adult man canât be platonic friends without it ending in romance, then I donât know what to tell you. You people arenât even trying to hide your heteronormativity.
Also side note, if you think giving someone a flower is romantic, let me remind you Robyn gave Mebh a flower, and Bill gave Robyn a flower too. Itâs obviously just a sign of affection, including platonic.
The creators themselves said the ending is left open. So if you WANT to see them as step-siblings you can, but if you donât want to see it like that, you donât HAVE to. Itâs definitely not canon, so you have no right to force it on other people.
Iâm sorry, but I just donât see them as step-siblings. Because 1) girls donât need to be related to be close friends, and 2) I much prefer the innocent first crush angle, as someone who discovered her own sexuality by getting crushes on my childhood friends.
Bonus yikes for people who are okay with kid romances like Ponyo, but then make a problem of people seeing Wolfwalkers like that.
Mebyn has been living in my head rent free for a hot minute, so it was only a matter of timeâŚ.
