hi, do you think it is essential that we study all of the enlightenment philosophes or would it be enough to just know about a few. which do you think are the most important?
Study the philosophies of les philosophes francais, Voltaire, Montesquieu, Rousseau and Descartes; John Locke vs Tommy Hobbes, Francis Bacon, and Immanuel Kant: it’s easy just to memorise a summarising phrase/an iconic quote for each person.
Know what Diderot, Adam Smith, Olympe de Gauges, Newton, and Leibniz did on a basic level, but you won’t have to go into too much depth on their beliefs. Also know how to define Deism, Enlightened Absolutism, Relativism, and Rationalism.
Hope this helps! Good luck studying!
