The Faceless

He’d been trailing the child for awhile, silent as usual. part of it was simply her age, but more so was her energy. it was more than she was, and with observation, he could determine the location of the phantom. he stood stock still as his distracted walking lead to a snapped branch underfoot, which the child was not ignorant towards. rather than looking around nervously, however, she perked up.
He stood still, watching amidst the shadows, and to most, blending in. She was observant, however (or did she know what to look for?), and rather than go the other direction, she approached with a smile. she stopped short, however, when she was close enough he couldn’t easily be missed. for a moment the child stared- which was the norm- before she smiled and spoke. “Sorry, I mistook you for someone else. He tends to stick to the shadows as well. your suit’s very nice though!”
She...was completely unphased by his lack of face. Slender stood silently for a bit more, before realizing he should reply. no one else would hear him but her, really, and perhaps those attuned to such lack of voice speech. “These woods have many Hazards. perhaps I can join you till you find your friend?”
she was silent, before smiling. “Well, he’s a little odd, but I feel that won’t bother you any. sure! even with knowing what’s out here more or less... the darkness can still have it’s eerie chills when you’re kind of alone.”
“Appearance does not matter to me. So I shall walk with you?”
“If you like!”
so the two walked, this time within sight of each other. the small child, and lengthy twig of a faceless man a pace behind her, looking for the child’s friend.
