Gender can get a big complicated when doing reenactment adjacent things. I usually feel more comfortable in masculine coded dress, particularly around people I don't know well, but many of my interests lean more feminine (throwing up in my mouth a little just writing this. the essentialism of it). However, performing "feminine" activities while male presenting? That's magician coded.

Back from my medieval nonsense! I lost most of my voice on day 0.5 and it's still gone but it's been great. Am now one straw hat and one sheepskin richer. (Among other things...)

Today we visited a 12th century church on our way home (still in our medieval getups!) and got there just in time to catch the ringing of the bells. Magical.

did not go to the allotment today because of the Bone Deep Weariness (and rain) but!! I have:

washed my hair

transplanted my chili babies

set up the grow light

transferred kimchi from the fermentation jar to smaller glass jars

done a bunch of piercing research for something I might want

sewn the shoulder seams of my 16th century shirt and done a damn good job of it

#bone deep weariness eased off a bit in the late afternoon #but otherwise this has been a day of doing things in fits and starts #not compatible with leaving the house #slightly concerned i've made the shoulders too wide buuuut it's like this now #i was thinking the goal was a slightly dropped shoulder until i saw the measurement of the original shirt which is tiny #applied faunology #medievalising #need to sign up for medieval spring camp but i have SUCH a mental block around it hhh

I think I've come up with an sca name (secret for now!) and I've found my misplaced inspiration so I think I know what kind of clothes I want to make next 👀

#we discussed the concept of the medieval fuckboy and i went well actually i wouldn't mind giving off that vibe #also the 16th century shirt is step 1 of the look i want and that's good because it's currently in the naughty pile #neeeed to fix the shoulders but i'm still feeling crummy #medievalising
