Looking back at large trim and restoration project the we finally finished up last week now the all the doors have been painted. The customer loves to preserve but also enjoys the natural wear on a house. All the hardware was covered with paint and corrosion so that you couldn’t even tell what metal they were made of let alone the details. They have all been restored to working order! This trim project has been done on my part for about a month. But the customer has some more ideas and hardware to be reinstalled when the painters are done. Here are some highlights from a recent trip to the North Pole in Medina, NY. Santa was busy in his shop but we still had a good time exploring and shopping in this small town in Upstate New York. Medina is a sleepy little town with that was established in 1832 and is about an hour from both Rochester and Buffalo, New York. Medina has some great little shops and restaurants and is about 25 minutes from the shore of Lake Ontario. It is also well known for their Railroad Museum. The village of Medina developed after construction of the Erie Canal, passes through the village. The shape of the canal created a basin that served as a natural stop over point and became a thriving center of trade and commerce for boats and barges traveling along the Erie canal. Mills were constructed in town to take advantage of water power. The fertile lands around the village yielded fruit and corn which was exported to New York City and markets west of the canal. At the start of the 20th century, Medina was a thriving town. The only road under the #eriecanal - in Medina, NY. Even inside the tunnel, it makes no sense how you could be under the canal. But the Culvert Road underpass is super drippy and echoey and very cool. It was originally built in 1823. And "originally built" is correct, because it was rebuilt in 1926 when the canal was enlarged. #themoreyouknow . Here's another fun face about Medina: Ages ago, the Medina Diner had THE BEST ketchup on the planet. It was in Heinz bottles, but the waitress told us it was really Lil Brave.
