Mee sua soup (面线汤), sometimes known as Longevity noodles (长寿面) typically eaten on birthdays for some of Chinese people symbolize longevity life.
A bowl of Mee Sua (面线) soup with a poached egg and shrimp wontons. This is a very thin variety of salted noodles made from wheat flour. The noodles differ from Bee Hoon (rice vermicelli) and cellophane noodles in that those varieties are made from rice and mung beans, respectively. Mee Sua is cooked during important festivities and eaten in many Asian countries. Mee Sua signifies long life in Chinese culture and as such is a traditional birthday food. My fond memory of mum cooking a bowl of this noodles with a poached egg for my birthdays when I was young.

Sis cooked this bowl of Mee Sua (面线) soup with shrimp wontons, lumps of minced pork, shiitake mushrooms and a poached egg for me. Told her I want my egg yolk still gooey.
Mum made Gnocchi (面疙瘩) soup for lunch after our neighbour helped her buy the flour. Had been trying to buy flour during the circuit breaker but the shelves are always empty.
