Dusa was overwhelmed with relief as soon as she saw Meg. So overwhelmed that she just rushed in to give her a hug, both needing and wishing to give comfort. Tears spilled freely down her own cheeks as it really does kick in just how bad Meg looks and how worried she was. Dusa had always insisted that Meg wasn’t dead, that she wouldn’t believe that, but as days passed it had slowly been creeping into her head.
She had stress cleaned the entire house but now all of her focus was on her dear friend. That hiss of pain had Dusa immediately stepping back, instead moving to gently guide her to the nearest chair to sit.
“Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t even think I-I-” she started to ramble into apology, feeling immense guilt that she has made Meg’s pain worse. “Here, sit. We can move to your room a little at a time, okay? I’m just glad you’re here.”
They could walk to Meg’s room in short bursts and then she would call for the doctor they used and take careful notes of what to do once the doctor had patched her up. She knew the other’s distrust and annoyance with medical professionals.
“I’m here a-and I’m not leaving you, okay? You’re safe.”
