The Meganebu Week is over! Thanks for all your submissions and support! As always, our askbox is open for any feedback/comment/anything you want to say.
And of course, you can keep submitting any prompt you got behind with.
For Akira, it was his house, with a steamy mug on his hand and his brother at his side.
For Yukiya, it was the store where he bought his first Y-pad.
For Takuma, either a candy shop or his brother’s workplace.
For Mitsuki it was the school yard where he saw Soma-senpai for the first time; and for Hayato, any nice place big enough to run around and take good pictures.
For every one of them, the first answer to the hypothetical question: “What is your favorite place?” would be really different, but all of them would hesitate after answering and add “Wait- I think the club could be my favorite place too”.
Akira's kisses were warm, surrounding; he could almost melt with them and into them.
Lorenzo's caresses were faint, fluid; it was like nothing at all and at the same time left a tingling sensation in his skin.
Each one of them, alone, would respectively feel like unbearable burning lava going down his veins; and like drowning in an inconceivably freezing pool.
Fortunately, the two of them at the same time didn't mean a beyond belief experience in which their most terrible traits combined; instead, it was as comforting as an appropriately heated bath.
It wasn't bad, and that was as much as Toru would ever say out loud.
Yuuto finished spreading a second coat of pink polish over his nails, and looked at his work with critical eye, as Maximilian sighed dreamily.
“Well, what do you think, Maximilian-kun? Does it look good?”
The alluded nodded enthusiastically, and Yuuto smiled at him, delighted.
“Want me to do your nails next? I've got a new golden polish that will look great on you” At this, Maximilian opened wide his eyes, thrilled.
“O-oh, yes, please! I'm sure you'll make it look good! Thank you!”
“And if you have time after this, I can take you to meet some friends of mine… One has beautiful hair like you and takes care of it punctiliously, and his brother is a model, so I guess you'd be interested to talk with them!” Yuuto said cheerily, preparing the teen's nails, and Maximilian looked like he couldn't handle all his excitement.
Meanwhile, Hayato and Antonio spied from the living room door, perplexed.
“Wasn't Takahashi-senpai going to help us with our project?” Hayato asked in a whisper, as if to not upset the others, and frowned.
“That's what he said…” Antonio answered, amused “Well, let him be, it looks like he's having a good time with your brother! He really admires beauty” He finished and followed Hayato towards his room.
Clutching his pencil with more force than necessary, Lorenzo quickly glanced to his side, and snarled at William’s peaceful expression. His classmate looked so optimistic, he could feel his own confidence falling apart.
No, no, he couldn’t go down like that, he had to keep it together. He could do it. He was going to destroy the charming, flawless, good boy Sato. The perfect William Sato that, of course, had been immediately welcomed in the student council and merged in a matter of days.
Unlike Lorenzo. And Lorenzo despised him.
“Watanabe-kun, right?” William had approached him and asked kindly “We’re on the same classroom, and now we’re on the student council together, too! I’m so glad, we’re the only first years! And there aren’t second years either, did you know-”
“So you know what that means?” Lorenzo had interrupted him, unfriendly, and not really expecting for an answer, so he kept going when William looked confused at him “When the third years graduates, one of us is going to be the president” The other had stayed silent, and he leaved.
That had been their first conversation, at the beginning of the year.
They had spent a lot of time and worked together as the year passed, and William had been always nice to him.
Lorenzo didn't like it. It was stupid, he never even tried to hide his antipathy, so why the other insisted on being cordial to him was beyond his comprehension. He could have thought the blond was putting on an act to appear kind and gracious in front of their upperclassmen, like Lorenzo himself tried to do for the first days before deciding it was too tiring, but William's treatment seemed genuine at all times.
If anything, that infuriated Lorenzo to no end, and made him want to prove that he was better even more.
It had been a long year of one-sided rivalry, and it all was going to conclude now. If Lorenzo got to be the new president, it'd mean he had won.
Sure, William had the favor of the third years, but Lorenzo counted on his slyness and good grades. And the final exams were the best time to put that on work.
As he was checking over his last exam of the year, he reconsidered his situation. William had scored slightly better than him on the social subjects, but this was math they were talking about. He was going to ace this test and get the best overall grade. He was confident on this.
Except his efforts weren't enough. When he found out, he skipped the last council meetings. He wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of seeing his defeated face, he was too proud for that.
But of course William didn't refrain from going after him.
“Congratulations, President” Lorenzo greeted sourly when William reached for him outside the school. “Is that what you wanted me to say? Now leave me alone”
Instead of doing as he was told, William crossed his arms and frowned.
“Don't be stupid” It was the first time he said that, and Lorenzo was surprised “You're going to be the vice-president, so I expect you to be up to that position. That means, no running away like a spoiled brat when things don't turn out as you wish”
Lorenzo grunted.
“You're assuming I'm staying in that stupid council”
“You are” William replied, and before Lorenzo could retort, he softened his face with a smile. “Come on. I need you in the council. I'm sure we'll be able to do great things for the school, Lorenzo”
Lorenzo stiffened for a second at the mention of his name, and then grinned.
“You're sure, huh? How do you know I won't betray you and get your position?” He asked, mischievous.
“Because I trust you” William stated simply, and in front of the other's perplexed eyes, he started rummaging through his bag. “Here” He said when he was done, placing a small bottle in Lorenzo's hand, who raised an eyebrow questioningly. “It's my medicine” William explained “But sometimes I take it too early or just forgot, so I need someone to check me. Please, stay at my side and do me that favor”
Lorenzo observed the bottle for a moment, and then shoved it on his pocket.
“The Himakai is like a family”, said no one. Ever.
From the outside, the student council looked like a dysfunctional bunch of random students that only got in because of a lack of better applicants.
From the inside, instead… Well, from the inside it wasn't that different, honestly.
It wasn't like they were a total mess, they actually managed to do plenty of things, but not without misunderstandings, many changes of plans and a general climate of disagreement.
While Toru was very fond of rules, he was stunned of how little Lorenzo (their vice president, no less!) cared about them. Antonio gave the impression to never take anything seriously, and Maximilian appeared to take everything too seriously. Pretty much the only thing that united them was their unconditional devotion to William, but, even considering that, they were sure at least half of the president's stomach pains were due to the council related causes.
More often than not, Toru found himself longing for a closer, more familiar bond with the rest of the council members (the kind of relationship the meganebu member seemed to have, he'd thought grimly).
But, he couldn't less than appreciate how William would personally talk to each of them before their classes started and wish them a good day. How Lorenzo would randomly demand to know their grades, scolding them if they weren’t up to his standards or muttering a low “good work” if they were. He couldn't less than be amused, and even enjoy (but never admit it) Maximilian's dramatic performances, and he knew Antonio was only a call of distance if anyone needed cheering up.
So, the Himakai may not have been like a family, but it didn't make it any less of a nice place to be. And Toru was glad to be part of it.
