There's a Tumblr blog called masterling-caretaking-101 which somewhat inspired this story. The idea is that robots are maybe one third the size of humans, and are created and sold to humans to be permavored and kept in their human owners stomach permanently. Hopefully the world building exposition was such that that should have been something that could be figured out by just reading the story, but just in case.
On a whole Megaman kick lately and man, those robots are all just so cute I can't not want to eat them.
