Hello! For the pairing and the number thing... um... please choose a pairing you like for number 32 (the one about "I think I love you and I'm terrified")? Pretty please? With some sugar on it? *flutters eyelashes gormlessly*
well how could i refuse such a nice request lol (i hope it’s okay that i went with my inquisitor, meical, and dorian! and that i went way above the word limit for a drabble, i apparently don’t know how to follow directions) thank you so much for sending me a prompt!
Meical leaned his head back against the pillow, one armslung around Dorian’s shoulders. Dorian’s moustache tickled Meical’s chest ashe placed lazy kisses along the curve of it, and Meical wanted to cling on tothe peace of the moment for just a little while longer. If they could havethis, naked and flushed, skin against skin, with no words being spoken, thenmaybe this fragile thing he feltcould survive. Maybe he wouldn’t accidentally smother it. Of course, Dorianchose that moment to speak.
“How am I so lucky to keep ending up like this?” heasked, tracing his hands along Meical’s stomach.
The words shouldn’t have made him squirm. Meical thoughthimself lucky too. But there was something about the adoration that was plainin Dorian’s eyes, the genuine happiness in his voice that made Meical want torear back.
Dorian must have sensed the shift in the mood, because hepropped himself up on one elbow and pinned Meical in place with a stare.
“What’s the matter with you lately? And don’t try totell me it’s nothing. Ever since we had that talk, you’ve been unpredictable.” Dorianlooked concerned. He really was way too good for him. A lesser man would’vewalked away the moment Meical went cold on him.
“Iwant more than something fun, Dorian,” Meical had said. Why, why, WHY had hesaid that? He did ‘want more’, but he had always been fickle and he knew it. GivingDorian expectations had been a tremendously stupid idea, he should know by now that he can’t keep it up. It seemed he wasalready sabotaging himself.
“Fine, I guess I should explain,” Meical sighed. Excuses, lies, justifications ran through his head before he settled on the truth. “I’mscared.”
Dorian looked dumbstruck at that.
“What could you possiblyhave to fear from me?”
“You’re not what I’m scared of. I… I think I’m in lovewith you, and I’m terrified.” He resolutely looked away from Dorian beforecontinuing. “I know that I play at being this romantic, and I am, but I’venever done this with someone who mattered.” That was tweaking the truthslightly, but at least those words didn’t try to choke him on their way out ofhis throat like the alternative – no onehas ever mattered for very long – would have.
Dorian considered this for a moment before pulling Meicalin to a hug that felt like redemption.
“Don’t worry about that. Just be here, be present withme, and we’ll work it out. Do you think you can do that for me?”
“But what if I-” leaveyou with no explanation, push you away with poison words you never thought you’dhear from me, look at you one day without feeling a thing in my heart, it’shappened before and I don’t think I could stand it if I did that to you. “Whatif I hurt you?”
“Then I will be very cross with you, but unless ithappens, what do you say we don’t think about that?” Dorian lifted Meical’schin with one finger, placing a careful kiss against his lips.
“Okay. Okay, I can do that,” Meical smiled and kissedDorian back, intense and passionate, not sure if he was trying to convincehimself or Dorian.
