Finally we started meisterhaus! Of course we begin from the top, Zornhau.
After warming up, first we did some laps with footwork, then the "Forma di Fiore". That's what they call some sequence lifted from Flos Duellatorum. One of these days I will explain what it is about, I'm not confident enough right now. Did I tell how we are studying _German_ longsword? Dunno shite bout Fiore.
So we pair up and finally try Zornhau ort (hort? I really didn't think this whole blog thing throu bc I do not need to spell the german words like, ever). Then we tried the rest of the play with counters and counter-counters. The moves came back to me gradually, as I've already studied and drilled the damn thing multiple times, in different halls and clubs, under different instructors. Still! The tempo! What a pain! You truly need to be Meister to act indes. Also I find the counter abnemen (???) to take some serius balls to pull off. I hate leaving the bind in close distance, in krieg.
This fine evening we had a woman in her thirties coming in for a free try, all alone. I could absolutely feel how scary she would be when the two instructors would talk in front of her, plastic weapon in hand, cutting off space while they were just explaining the technical terms and such. I shall tell them the next time to leave more space, physical space, between them and the tryout and the fricking door.
