a/n: rainy days happen to everyone, but there's something about gray days and staying in that i absolutely love.
"Babeeeeee" Bokuto whined as he slumped down next to you on the couch. "Ack, you're all wet." you protested as he buried his face in your shoulder. He huffed and started towards the bedroom. Sighing, you went ahead and prepared some hot apple cider and put some pumpkin muffins in the oven to warm. He looked like he could use some comfort.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Bokuto peeled out of his wet clothes. His hair was soaked and drooping as well as his socks being squishy between his toes. A truly awful sensation. He turned on the shower and let the water run until it was nice and warm. The steam embraced him and he felt himself relax. After relishing in the warmth, he got dressed and went back out to the living room.
"I'm sorry about earlier-" He began before going silent at the wide array before him. The living room had been converted into a blanket fort. The coffee table was inside and on it was steamy apple cider and you were just putting down the pumpkin muffins that you had baked earlier today. The TV was set to Bokuto's favorite movie, Knives Out, and you had dimmed the lights a little. He blinked in awe at the display. To anyone else, it just seemed like a nice setup to stay in, but to Bokuto, he saw this as an oasis from the troubles of his day. "Do you wanna tell me about your day?" You asked, adjusting the tray with the snacks. "We don't have to if you don't want to but I-" Your words were soon muffled by Bokuto's bear hug. "Thank you so much for all this." He whispered, eyes moist. "It's alright Bo." You consoled, rubbing his back. Tears began to splash on your shoulder. "Today was awful [Y/N]. Absolutely terrible." He wailed. "Now, now. Let's sit down in the fort and you can tell me all about it.
Bokuto gets very hungry when he has intense emotions. Unfortunately, he's also a very emotional person. As soon as you got inside the fort, he shoved an entire muffin in his mouth. Crumbs lingering on his lips and cheeks and he munched sadly. You did your best not to giggle at how cute he looked doing so, but you knew he needed you, so you patiently waited for him to begin. He hiccupped and took a long sip of the sider. Then he began.
"It all started this morning." He stated flatly. "I was jogging to practice like I always do when I got the worst stitch I'd ever had." He sipped more cider. "It was really really really painful, but I still managed to make it to practice even though I was late." You nodded and reached for a muffin yourself. The gentle warmth and tantalizing aroma of the spices made you relax. "But because I was late, the coach made me do extra drills." He whimpered. "It was awful." "I can imagine," You affirmed. "And then when it came to break time, they were all out of the normal drink flavors and I got stuck with grape. You know how much I hate grape." He huffed. You handed him a napkin with which he wiped his eyes instead of his mouth. "But that's not even the worst part," He moaned. "After practice, it started raining super hard and I had to walk home in it." He sniffled. "And I know you couldn't come to get me because your car is being fixed but today really sucked." The muffins had gone down by about 50% now. And the cider was but a draining. You pulled Bokuto into your arms and stroked his hair.
"I'm really sorry about today Bo."
He sighed and sank deeper into your embrace. "It's alright. The shower helped and so did these treats so I'm feeling a lot better now." He perked up, bumping his head on one of the cushions above you. "This fort is really solid huh." He laughed, rubbing his head. "Only the most stable of forts for you ace." You giggled. "C'mon, let's watch the movie now and relax." He said, snuggling up next to you. And with that, Bo's bad day became nothing but a distant memory.
