why wait for the best when I could have you?
langdon saving a patient an episode after mel hyped him up COINCIDENCE I THINK NOT
Im sorry but as a woman on spectrum i can tell you, these two are canon. Blond girl with autism and Frank with addiction and ADHD is a story of my life.
Oh, to be 19 again.
Honestly, better then them watching the fireworks “together,” if we see like Mel watching the fireworks alone in a park and pan to Langdon watching them as well in the same park and they don’t realize how close they both are to each other, I think I’ll die
AHHHH
Mel asking about the history actors SINCE IT WAS HER FAVORITE TRIP
Omg her and Langdon are meant for each other
PLEASE KINGDON PLEASE
mel and langdon the pitt have a sauce that not many straight ships do… i’m in the tag on ao3 and everything is grey
Another one shot off of my ao3 ❤️❤️
Robby x Dennis
——————— SIX KISSES ———————————
1. The First Time (He Was Asleep)
Dennis Whitaker had hit the point in his shift where exhaustion stopped feeling sharp and started feeling heavy.
Everything slowed down. Thoughts dragged. Even blinking felt like work.
By the time he made it to the break room couch, he barely remembered sitting down.
The couch was terrible. Everyone knew it. The springs were uneven and one arm sagged lower than the other, but right now it felt like the softest thing in the world.
Dennis leaned back and scrubbed his hands over his face.
Just ten minutes.
That was all he needed.
He stretched out across the couch, one arm falling over his eyes to block the fluorescent lights.
Somewhere down the hallway a monitor beeped.
Someone laughed at the nurses’ station.
The sounds blurred together until they faded completely.
Dennis fell asleep almost instantly.
A few minutes later, the break room door opened quietly.
Robby stepped inside, still holding a patient chart.
He paused when he saw Dennis.
The chart slowly lowered.
Dennis looked… completely out.
His chest rose and fell in slow, steady breaths, the tension that usually lived in his shoulders finally gone. His hair had fallen slightly across his forehead, and his arm was still draped over his face like he’d simply given up halfway through staying awake.
Robby felt something in his chest soften.
He walked over quietly.
“Whitaker,” he said softly.
No response.
Dennis was fully asleep.
Robby hesitated, then gently reached down and moved Dennis’s arm away from his face.
Dennis shifted slightly, brow furrowing.
“…Robby?” he murmured.
“Go back to sleep,” Robby said quietly.
Dennis relaxed again immediately.
For a moment Robby just stood there.
Watching him.
Dennis worked harder than almost anyone in the ER. Robby saw it every day—how seriously he took everything, how much he cared.
It was… endearing.
Robby shook his head faintly.
Then, before he could overthink it, he leaned down.
The kiss was soft.
Barely more than the brush of his lips against Dennis’s hair near his temple.
Warm. Gentle. Quick enough that it almost didn’t count.
Almost.
Robby straightened immediately afterward, clearing his throat like he’d been caught doing something ridiculous.
“Accident,” he muttered quietly.
Dennis didn’t wake.
⸻
2. The Second Time (After a Long Night)
The ER had finally slowed down.
Barely.
Dennis leaned against the wall outside the ambulance bay, staring out at the empty street like he was trying to remember what normal life looked like.
His scrub top was wrinkled, his hair was a mess, and he hadn’t stopped moving for hours.
Robby stepped outside beside him.
Neither of them spoke for a minute.
The cool morning air felt good after the fluorescent heat of the ER.
Dennis finally exhaled.
“I think my brain stopped working around hour nine.”
Robby chuckled.
“That early?”
Dennis rubbed his eyes.
“I might fall asleep standing up.”
“You wouldn’t be the first.”
Dennis tilted his head back against the wall.
“You ever think about quitting medicine and opening a bakery?”
“A bakery?”
“Or a coffee shop. Something peaceful.”
Robby smiled faintly.
“You wouldn’t last a week.”
“Probably not.”
They stood there quietly for another moment.
Dennis looked exhausted.
The kind of exhausted that made people quiet.
Robby turned toward him.
Before Dennis could ask what he was doing, Robby stepped closer and gently grabbed the front of his scrub shirt.
Dennis blinked.
“Robby—”
Then Robby kissed him.
It was quick but warm, his lips pressing softly against Dennis’s before Dennis even had time to react.
The kiss lingered just long enough to feel real.
Then Robby pulled back.
Dennis stared at him.
“…What.”
Robby shrugged casually.
“Morale boost.”
Dennis blinked again.
“You can’t just—”
But he stopped.
Because despite himself—
He felt a little less exhausted.
Robby noticed the shift in his expression and smirked.
“See?”
Dennis shook his head slowly.
“…Unbelievable.”
⸻
3. The Third Time (Because Dennis Was Nervous)
Dennis paced outside the conference room like a man awaiting execution.
“I’m going to embarrass myself.”
“You’re not.”
“I am.”
“You won’t.”
Robby leaned against the wall watching him with quiet amusement.
Dennis tugged at the sleeve of his scrub top again.
“I hate presentations.”
“You’re presenting a case review, not performing surgery.”
“I would rather perform surgery.”
Robby laughed softly.
Dennis stopped pacing.
“You’re enjoying this.”
“A little.”
Dennis groaned and ran a hand through his hair.
“I’m going to say something stupid.”
“Whitaker.”
Dennis looked up.
Robby stepped forward and grabbed his shoulders to stop the pacing.
“You’re one of the smartest people in this hospital.”
Dennis made a doubtful noise.
Robby smiled slightly.
Then he leaned forward.
The kiss was slow enough that Dennis saw it coming—but not slow enough to stop it.
Their lips met gently, warm and steady.
Not rushed.
Just enough pressure to quiet the anxious energy Dennis had been vibrating with for the last ten minutes.
Dennis froze for a second.
Then relaxed into it.
The kiss lasted a few quiet seconds before Robby pulled back.
Dennis blinked.
“…What was that.”
Robby shrugged.
“Confidence.”
Dennis stared at him.
“…That actually worked.”
“I know.”
⸻
4. The Fourth Time (Because Dennis Got Hurt)
The cut wasn’t serious.
But Robby was still irritated about it.
“You should’ve let the nurse handle the broken glass.”
“I was already there.”
“You were bleeding.”
“Barely.”
Dennis sat on the stool while Robby carefully wrapped the bandage around his hand.
The treatment room smelled faintly like antiseptic.
Dennis watched him work.
“You’re hovering.”
“I’m supervising.”
“You’re hovering.”
Robby finished tying the bandage.
“Hold still.”
Dennis smirked.
“Yes, doctor.”
Robby rolled his eyes.
Then he reached up and gently took Dennis’s face in one hand.
Dennis blinked in surprise.
The kiss that followed was slower than the others.
Careful.
Robby leaned in and pressed his lips softly to Dennis’s, lingering for a moment longer this time, the contact warm and steady.
Dennis could feel the faint brush of Robby’s thumb against his jaw.
When Robby pulled back, Dennis looked slightly dazed.
“…Was that medical?”
Robby shrugged.
“Preventative care.”
Dennis laughed.
⸻
5. The Fifth Time (Because Robby Wanted To)
Dennis sat at the nurses’ station typing notes.
It was one of the rare quiet moments in the ER.
Robby walked past.
Stopped.
Turned back.
Dennis didn’t even notice until Robby leaned down beside him.
“Robby—”
The kiss interrupted him.
Quick.
Light.
Just a brief press of lips before Robby straightened again.
Dennis stared at the empty air where he’d been.
“…Why.”
Robby continued walking.
“Because I wanted to.”
Dennis shook his head, smiling despite himself.
⸻
6. The One Time Dennis Kissed Him First
The break room was quiet.
Suspiciously quiet.
Robby sat at the small table flipping through patient charts while drinking terrible hospital coffee.
Dennis walked in and closed the door behind him.
Robby glanced up.
“You look thoughtful.”
Dennis walked over slowly.
“Do I?”
“Yes.”
Dennis stopped in front of him.
Then he reached down and grabbed the front of Robby’s shirt.
Robby blinked.
“Whitaker—”
Dennis kissed him.
Not quick.
Not surprised.
Intentional.
His hand tightened slightly in Robby’s shirt as their lips met, the kiss warm and certain in a way the others hadn’t been.
Robby went still for a second before leaning into it.
The moment lingered, soft and unhurried.
When they finally pulled apart, Robby looked genuinely surprised.
“…Well.”
Dennis leaned against the table.
“What?”
Robby tilted his head.
“That’s new.”
Dennis shrugged.
“You had five.”
Robby smiled slowly.
“So you were counting.”
Dennis didn’t answer.
Robby leaned in again, brushing another quick kiss against his lips.
“Now it’s six.”
Dennis laughed.
“Greedy.”
“Absolutely.”
And neither of them stopped smiling for the rest of the shift.
