We’re left feeling a little ‘starry-eyed’ after our big weekend – excuse the pun! Shooting Stars Photobooths Melbourne was proud to be the official photo and video booth company of the Australian F1 Grand Prix 2013.

From set-up to pack-down, this was one of the best events we’ve had the honour of being at. We were part of The Social Club - An exclusive club for social media users. Being welcomed in by the chance to win exclusive seating and area access, punters launched upon our booths in droves. Some of you may have even met our (super) Star Attendant, Shelley. Over the course of four days, Shelley helped thousands of people take photos and videos, exclusively celebrating the punters’ time at The Australian Grand Prix 2013. And what resilience was shown from the event attendees, because literally, rain or shine they turned out en mass. 

We also had those lovely Rolex girls pop by for a few sneaky Booth snaps – and yes gentleman, it's on our Facebook page. Say it with Photo's

A sweet photobooth story out of the United States – Pete proposed to his girlfriend Shannon by spelling out “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” in photobooth strips and sticking it to their fridge. On their first date the couple had gone to a restaurant and had photobooth pictures taken. Those original photobooth strips had been taped to the fridge in their apartment, and on this night Pete had replaced the original photos with the proposal strips. It took Shannon 30 minutes to notice the new photos, and when she finally spotted the difference she turned to find Pete down on one knee in the kitchen behind her.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled with the proposal because it really suited our personalities and our backstory, plus now I have photos to look at whenever I want to relive the moment!”, says Shannon. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, why not say it with photos?  Sweet, original and lasting, photobooths are the perfect tool for creating those unique magic Valentine’s Day moments.

Purikura

The East often does some pretty interesting things with what the West invents, and vice versa. We see a true collaboration of cultures sometimes, and the photobooth is no exception. If fact, the results of Eastern cultures influence on the photobooth are seen here in Melbourne and across Australia: Purika.

What is Purikura ? Purikura, short for Purinto Kurabu or Print Club, is a Japanese photo sticker booth. This photo booth takes digital pictures and allow you to decorate your photos with stickers, stamps, borders or text the way you want them to be. Some features of Purikura photo booths vary depending on the machine but the basic and most common feature is making your skin look lighter and your eyes bigger like that of dolls. Basically, a go-to Instagram. Here, you can find them in aracades and in hidden little corners of the city. In Japan, they are simply apart of the culture.

In the wallets of girls across Melbourne and Australia are the tiny decorated stickers of times spent with friends, goofing off and messing about in photobooths made all the better by taking one idea and making it even better. Gotta love those photobooths!
