Friendly reminder that "misandry" is not another word for "feminism". Put your pitchforks down and hear me out. I understand you're angry. I am too. I hate walking down the street and being paranoid when men of large stature or unsavory eyes can see me. I hate the way that the possession of a vagina can be used as an insult. I hate the way that a penis is some kind of badge of honor. HOWEVER, a penis is not a mark of shame, either. Nor is being a man in general. As a feminist, you are fighting for equality - your enemy is ignorance, bigotry, sexism, racism, transphobia, the perpetuated patriarchal system that society just runs with, men and women alike. I work in a baby store, and let me tell you, it does not matter what gender the person I'm helping is. If they have a little boy, they will shrink away from the color pink like some kind of plague, and this is because society is taught to believe that femininity must be separate, kept away from, that it's a disease that makes you lesser, weaker, incompetent, an accessory to your male superiors. This is the line of thinking that is your enemy. The individuals who abuse you, harass you, ridicule you, the monsters who see you as something to walk all over and dominate. Stupidity, violence, ignorance with no willingness to learn, these are your enemies. Your enemy is not a person who happens to be male. Being male does not make you a bad person any more than being female makes you a good one. And I don't know if you've noticed, but perpetuating the idea that feminists are all cold man-hating hypocrites kind of does not help our cause or make people more willing to listen. You're really setting us back with that kind of attitude. And as sick as I find it that I need to state this to avoid "AHAHA MALE TEARS I'M A SOCIOPATH", I am female and in a queer relationship with a lovely genderqueer individual. Which somehow makes my input more valid on this site.
