Congratulations to our Fellow Traveller label mates Memory of God for shipping the beautiful and contemplative and very different The Stillness of the Wind yesterday!  It’s very different from The Church in the Darkness, but we like what it’s doing.

Where The Goats Are is a slow-paced, meditative game for PC and Mac, created by solo indie developer Memory of God. Play as Tikvah as she tries to maintain her way of life, looking after goats and making cheese, while the world around her falls apart.

Milk your goats, make cheese, trade with the travelling merchant to feed your goats, maintain your chickens to feed yourself, water your plant. And of course, there are leisure activities. Watch the shadows as they move across the farm, or draw lines in the dirt with your favourite stick.”

Tend to Your Goats as the Apocalypse Approaches in This Meditative Game

"Where The Goats Are" by Memory of God starts as an idyllic farming game, but the horrors of the post-apocalyptic setting can't be kept away.

The game is pay-what-you-wish on Itch.io, downloadable for Mac and PC. Players can discover ways of survival by interacting with the objects scattered around the farm, learning to take a long walk to the well for a cup of water, or to milk the goats to make butter, which in turn you can trade to a passing peddler for hay to feed the goats. The peddler is the only other human character in the game, although he regularly delivers letters to Tikvah from brothers and other friends and relatives who have fled the countryside for the city or more fertile lands. Cardenas explained that the idea for the game initially came out of a conversation with his girlfriend, when they were fantasizing about leaving their London architecture jobs for a self-sustaining life in the country.

Where the Goats Are by Memory of God

I just played this lovely game about an isolated old woman taking care of her goats, and learning about the outside world by reading letters from her family. Very touching and human.

Gameplay time is about an hour and the game is name-your-own-price.
