It seemed Angela couldn’t keep from failing Amélie one way or another. She hadn’t realized that Talon had brainwashed the poor woman once she’d returned to her husband--and by extension Overwatch--until it was too late. Now, though? As she lay there, lifeless, cooler and paler than what had become normal to her? It was just a slap in the face as to how far good intentions truly got someone.
She hadn’t known...she had been trying her best to help Amélie, but it only resulted in Talon flipping the killswitch, ending the other’s life before Angela could truly help her sort through her memories and feelings and--hopefully--convince her to free herself from the shackles that was working for Talon. She should have known they wouldn’t let go of such an adept assassin so easily, that if they couldn’t have her skills, no one could have her.
It was pointless, she knew, but she still checked for a pulse. The taller woman draped across Angela, one hand resting behind her head as her free hand checked her radial pulse: nothing. It was expected, but she had been hoping, praying even, that she was merely mistaken, that Amélie was alive and just...unconscious.
“Amélie, bitte, you can’t...you can’t be deceased. You had so much to live for, so much hope in your future. Bitte, don’t let this be the end...” Angela still had so much to say, to confess. Tears trickled down her cheeks, dampening the other’s clothes as she buried her face in Amélie’s shoulder, “I loved you.” She uttered.
