Mensah Murderbot March | Prompt: matching clothes
“She didn't respond for 3.2 seconds and I had that long to wonder if she didn't want to talk to me. That would make this rescue 100 percent more awkward.
Then she said, Prove you're you. Tell me your name.
Okay, not that awkward. That was a relief. It also told me how bad her situation was, if she was worried about someone trying to trick her by posturing in her feed. I said, It's Murderbot, Dr. Mensah.
That conversation had been permanently deleted, so no one knew about it except the PreservationAux team. Assuming they hadn't told anyone else about it. Mensah obviously assumed it.”

tmbd really are the queerplatonic books of all time
like you’ve got murderhelion, which i don’t feel like i even need to explain. secunit let art do surgery on it after knowing it like a day. talk about matching someone’s freak
but also there’s secunit and mensah, which straight up makes my heart clench if i think about it too hard. like??? “i really like you. not in a weird way.” “i really like you too.” and “i don’t want to not see you again.” “i don’t want to not see you again either.” the way it offers to let her (and no one else ever!!!) hug it, twice! TWICE! the way she understands its sense of humor when nobody else really does (except art, but again, freaks) and it uses that to ease her anxiety by sending her increasingly ridiculous weapons requisition requests so she knows she’s not alone. the way she’s the only other person in the series that it talks about her ability to control her expression (until it meets iris, and even then it brings it up by comparing her to mensah), something it repeatedly talks about having its own trouble with. “we can look calm. we’re good at that.” !!!! that “we” carries so much emotional weight! they haven’t seen each other since port freecommerce but they know each other so well! holding hands while they run through tranrollinhyfa!! holding hands on preservation to support her in front of her family!!!! “that’s why i left you, dr mensah, my favorite human” i’m going to walk into the sea!!!!!!!!!
of course you have blue hair and pronouns

We all know Murderbot's hero worship devotion to Dr. Mensah of course but I'm thinking about the flip side right now. Imagine, if you will, Dr. Mensah, who grew up in a comparatively utopic commune society with extremely minimal crime where everyone's basic needs were met. Despite her extremely impressive composure and adaptability through the series, I don't think she ever really encountered mortal danger before the GrayCris incidents. So she's having the worst experience of her whole life, and she's got to be in charge of everyone and make sure her team doesn't panic, keep them safe, lead them out of this, despite having absolutely 0 first hand knowledge of what to do. I think she was absolutely breathtakingly grateful for SecUnit, someone whose entire existence was spent dealing with these kinds of situations, who was protecting them despite having no reason to, who was outwardly cool-headed and competent and who threw itself in front of danger time and again. I think it was a relief to have someone on the team that she could lean on, that felt responsible for her in addition to the other way around. I think it made her feel safe. I think she missed it terribly when she was dealing with GrayCris without it and I think after TranRollinHyfa she was even more reliant on its presence. The hero worship might be mutual, yknow? The love certainly is
