One thousand false starts that leave me constantly at the beginning. I wish I could go back to the beginning of time and realign the heavens so that I might create a future for myself where I am better at making it to the finish line. It’s sad when you know what footsteps will get you to your future, but you can’t bring yourself to go through with placing them in the sand. This painting will work and this novel idea will flourish and this song will turn out right, but actually, no, they won’t, because they will never be completed. First brush strokes are beautiful but you have to fall out of love with quick fixes if you ever want to achieve long term happiness. I am endlessly restless. If I could finish just one thing I would maybe feel a little better. But finishing things takes a lot of time that I struggle to force myself to spend. How sad. Pathetic sad, not the kind that deserves sympathy or tears.
Writing inspires me, it makes me want to solve the problems that run around in my head. That paragraph is a means to an end. A medium I use to take my issues and I start to think about routes I could pursue that would help me find some of the answers I can’t seem to find inside myself. And I remember that I really like motivational speakers. So I put on a TED Talk and I think, you know I don’t really need to look at this, I just need to listen. My fingers work at the canvas I’ve been stitching for weeks and I listen and take deeper breaths. I come up with a better place for performing the research that makes the book happen. I learn how to quiet the static in my mind. There isn’t a magic switch that turns us into the people we would like to be. Our brains work through pathways and the memories that they contain. So the next time you are struggling to make the necessary steps, consider a new path or two that you can use to get there. When you crawl out of a hole, you aren’t scraping all of the dirt away in one swoop, you have to gradually crumble the soil. Take heart.

Have you ever thought about how you plan and control your movements? There is a series of mental processes. Many contemporary researchers assume that there is continuity between planning and enactment. First, the introduction of two terms will set the stage for the concept of motor cognition. A movement is regarded as a voluntary displacement of a body part in physical space. An action…
