Merdith is Ballad's closest friend at the Knight's Academy. She grew up on her family's farm, and while she isn't the best at tending to crops she is fairly good with the cattle. In fact, she first discovered her talent for fashion designe when she decided to knit sweaters for the calves to wear when outside during the winter. Merdith's family was very accepting of her gender, perhaps partially because prior to it her parents only had boys. Being the baby sister, her brothers can be very overprotective, but she doesn't mind it.

Merdith was given an invitation to the Knight's Academy when they were low on students and the monsters first returned. They figured as a farm girl she would at least have muscles, and her brothers were too old to attend. However, Merdith doesn't really care for fighting and much prefers diplomacy. Instead, she is using her lessons to designe better outfits and armor for the knights. She has already designed and sewn a unitard for Ballad that provides ample protection while still allowing hir to move freely.

Merdith is the voice of reason to combat Ballad's impulsive nature. One is rarely seen without the other, as they balance each other out. Ballad is flamboyant, while Merdith tends to be content to remain in the background.

Merdith is very much a girl next door type, tending to be modest and kind. She is a fashion prodigy and smarter than most consider her to be.
